I think the rubber band aesthetic is silly. A thicker sidewall also rides nicer and will provide better traction. Speedo might be off 1 or 2 mph though.
A 235/45 I guess may be a bit much.

Why not look at some other tires? Most of Toyo's non performance tires are rock hard and noisy. The Hankook Ventus v12 concept2 should be cheaper...
