HKS vs ARK frontpipe

So I looked around a bit and didn't find exactly what I was looking for so here is a thread...

HKS dual resonator front pipe VS ARK hemholtz resonated front pipe.

Power?
Tone?
Volume(loudness)?

Hks

Being an HKS fanboy I say....HKS.

Well hopefully someone has some objective opinions here. Since they both claim power gains but HKS is lighter and cheaper, I'll probably pick the HKS

Same power with as well as being lighter and cheaper.. I'd go HKS.. If you really want to add a hemholtz resonator later by all means go for it for sound but so far HKS is coming out on top.

HKS

I heard HKS was raspy...is this true?
I'm not doing a catless header, so I've also been debating about the HKS front pipe.

Go for HKS. I have both. With the ARK, you need to cut the rear undertray to make it fit. The ARK shifted the drone up about 500 rpms. Hard for me to compare both since I have not run both with the same exact setup (header, catback, turbo, etc., etc.). I'm keeping my HKS to run with my new setup once I'm done with a few things.

i have the hks with the tuning header (catless) and don't regret it for a second!

It will depend heavily on your header choice. I have the ARK catback, and originally paired it with an Invidia resonated front pipe to go along with a Borla EL header. I hated the sound and went with the ARK front pipe which improved the sound considerably (though there were still some elements of the exhaust sound I didn't like.)

I decided to change my header to a JDL UEL catted header to deepen and mellow the sound. After installing it, I didn't like how it was sounding. So I switched back the Invidia resonated front pipe and the sound improved dramatically.

I think it stems from the Heimholtz resonator. Using an empty chamber like that means that it will really only work on a very narrow band of frequencies. Depending on how those frequencies feature in your exhaust sound will determine how well it works and what the end result will be. So ultimately, which pipe will be best depends on the system as a whole. Buy one, and if you don't like it, sell it and get the other.
