My dumbass wrecked my baby.

It looks worse in person. Ugh. 7 years of a perfect record and had 9 more months til I turned 25. Now my insurance is going to sky rocket. 😭 I wonder if they'll total it out or not. Adjuster is coming out tomorrow.

KR-S 01-12-2016 06:34 PM

Details?

cdq85 01-12-2016 06:34 PM

well you must be right that it looks worse in person because it really doesn't look that bad in the picture. our hoods usually crinkle up like beer cans in accidents (especially head on ones) and it's hardly bent. don't see any airbags so unless your frame and steering got knocked around, I don't see how it could be totaled. but it is a 2013 so idkkkkkk. glad you're ok, that's most important.

Glad you're OK OP... what happened?

I was turning out of my neighborhood. Facing north, turned west. Car was turning in and idk where this car came from cause I definitely did not see him coming on the inside lane. He was heading east. I think he turned from behind the car that was turning into the neighborhood. His airbags were deployed mine weren't. But yeah turned out and boom he hit me. From what I could see the driver side wheel is destroyed. I'm sure my axle and strut is gone. I just got new tires a few months ago too I think it bent the frame some too. He hit me at about 45 mph. I was facing the other way. And hit me hard enough to turn my car about 120 degrees.

sorry to hear that man. Glad you're okay and no one was seriously hurt.
Hopefully they can fix her right up

Just wondering, did the car attempt to evade or slow down at all? at 45mph I feel like theres plenty of time to prevent an accident. I evade idiots every single day... Not to say youre part of that group, and Im really sorry to hear what happened to your baby :(

Uh...from what you said, they hit you. Hope you didn't admit fault or anything because you're screwed if you did. Don't be too quick to assume your insurance will skyrocket if it's not your fault. This depends a lot on the police report.

nguyen_er 01-12-2016 07:51 PM

All I wrote on the police report was I turned out of the neighborhood heading west. And the car hit me. Don't think I put anything else.

Idk I didn't see a way I could have avoided it, aside from not turning out, he was either in a spot right behind the car turning in where I couldn't see him or he turned out from behind the car turning in when I turned my head to look right one last time before turning out.

Damn, glad you're okay!

Never admit fault, first thing someone taught me and heard from various places.

I would also recommend to get a Dash cam, especially for our cars and stuff, cause people always like to point fingers and say "He was speeding" or something like that cause its a Sports car.

Glad you're okay tho!

Its not just whether or not you could have avoided it. Its whether the other driver could have avoided you too. At this point, the fault could technically be on the other driver.

Unless there is footage or witnesses to prove that the other driver did something extremely stupid or illegal, like driving 80 in 40 or deliberately changing lanes to hit the OP, I am afraid it is very unlikely that the other driver is found guilty.

I know that people often try to get out of liability by saying "he was speeding [maybe by 5 mph, but I won't say that], so it's not my fault that he couldn't avoid collision when I pulled 10 ft in front of him". Heck, a guy who backed out of a parking space and brushed the side of my REAR bumper with his rear bumper (I mean, my entire car almost passed him and he still did not see me) said the same thing.

But in the case of OP, the other driver was on the main road, and the OP was entering it from the neighborhood. Pretty clear IMO, at least from the description that was given so far. Sorry, nguyen_er. Glad that nobody was hurt.
