I had to get the headlight unit on the passenger side replaced (right)and I noticed that it looks like that

Driver side (left)is the original headlight unit

is this normal..?
I went to a bodyshop

They probably used a non-OEM part. In general they are lower quality.

well the insurance probably told them to get those non oem parts... lol
o well, maybe in the future i'll replace them with HID or something

HID will make it worse  The issue is with the projectors so the only logical fix would be to bake open the headlights and swap them with good projectors in the future, either you can do that or a retrofitter can do that:

Not only will you have oem like HIDs but you will also have a nice clean legal cutoff

contact the bodyshop and clarify what headlight they used. they should have replaced it with an OEM part... and if the insurance company specifically told them to find the cheapest option, contact your insurance. there should be no reason for them NOT to replace it with an OEM part...

1) what happened to your car that knocked off your OEM headlight
2) your car is nearsighted now...

Is the bulb actually installed correctly in the housing.....?
might want to check that...
