No Heat to Footwells?

With the cold weather starting here in MA, I have noticed that my feet are remaining ice cold even if I put the climate control on feet only at high blast.
I cannot feel any air flowing down there. This must be a recent issue because I have gone three winters with the car already and do not recall having this issue...
I have no modifications to the car. I do have 3D Maxpider floor mats that I put in a few months ago, but I don't think that is the issue...

Any ideas what is going on?

That's odd. When parked, try putting it on full blast, foot only and poke around yourself to see if you can identify any blocked vents.

Also, have you ever changed the cabin air filter? It might just be too clogged and not letting much air through.

I'll try that.

I have changed the cabin air filter; about 18k miles ago, so it may be worth replacing.

Edit: Okay, there is some air flow when on high blast, but it feels like the windshield air vents are outputting more air than the footwells even though the control is on feet only...

Take off filter, turn heater on. If no air, its clog somewhere. If yes air, its filter.

Maybe rodent got in and clogged? May be the vent knob is off?

Funny, I just noticed this too. My car is normally garaged this time of year, but with the mild winter I have been using it. Noticed the other day that the foot well heat was kinda weak.
My guess would be it is what it is, or there is an issue with a duct flap.
I may have it checked next time im in for State Inspection.

Mine has been like this since day 1!! I agree more air goes to windows it seems then feat, hell I still get air through the face vents all full feat. I just live with it because I rather be cold and sideways then taking a bus hahaha!

I have tried with no filter as said above, makes no difference. I also feel the air that does come out seems to be aimed to high

If anyone finds a fix for this please PM me!!

I noticed this on the day I got it, since it was snowing..... three years later, still no heat.

I think you're just not driving it hard enough. Hot engine and tranny should keep your feet warm. LOL

Yep^^^^^
The foot setting just plain sucks. Like said I noticed that the very first day. No amount of fiddling with settings seems to effect it so I now just plan on having cold legs from my knees down. Meanwhile have to close the dash vents 'cuz my hands and face are sweating from how much they put out even if not set to on. Whoever designed the system probably never knew -20 existed in the real world.

I'm relieved to see other people with the same complaint lol

Is the deflector that channels the air to your feet operated by vacuum? I know in older cars this was the case, not sure about the 86. Could be a clog in one if the vac lines if so. I had this problem in my old Dakota truck.

Don't think it is a malfunction since mine has always been like that. It is just a poor design in the deflectors and there is really nothing to be done. I have tried to figure something out for 2 winters now and still freeze my toes off every morning.

Hmmm, it is what it is then. To use an old cliche "that model does that"
She's parked now for the winter now and I'm using the 4WD Tundra. Lotsa heat. Miss driving the car already tho.
