Spec D Tails DOT Approved?
 

Forgive me if I haven't searched hard enough but I have spent the better part of the last 3 hours looking.


I am really interested in the Spec D tail lights and am wondering if they are DOT approved. I have found various threads for other tail lights as well but not the Spec D's. I have also looked at various websites and none of them have that information in the description of the part. Most of the other tail lights are listed as DOT approved or not (Toms and Valenti).


From the pictures it looks like they have the extra reflectors on the side like the Toms do but I am still not fully convinced. Yes it is extremely rare to be pulled over for illegal tail lights but better safe than sorry IMO.

Lol fair enough. I did contact one vendor and they never got back to me so I dismissed this option wholly. Message has been sent. Will report back with response.

Do not purchase the side marker from them tho.
I purchased the side marker,,and need to do little modification. (clips and wires.)

These are sold as crystaleyes elsewhere.

This ebay listing states that they are DOT approved under "product features" at the bottom of the post, but I'm a bit leery about it:

I hear different feedback about the Spec D-- some are good and some not. I'm sure there are other good options for you.

They were my top choice but still haven't heard back from the manufacturer. Spyder tails are my second and then Toms. I don't like how there are individual dots for the brake lights on the Spyders and the Toms come off as a little too plain for me. Ive also only purely judged on looks as I am in no position to buy right now. Just love to dream lol!

I can chime in my feedback on them. I have Spec-D headlights and well... I'm trying my hardest to like them but it's still hard to not have some negative feelings.

They look nice but the quality is subpar for the price.

Well its been a week and still no contact. I'm pretty much over these tails now. I stumbled across the Valenti V3 tails and am just going to wait for those. Talk on the forums say those will be DOT approved. Thanks everyone for chiming in.

I have the crystal eye tails and there's a dot thing stamped in the plastic.
