If the price is right. The price of these things turns me off all the time.

olsonpg 01-04-2016 10:00 PM

I love it. First gauge overlay i really liked. Would buy.

Binary_fission 01-04-2016 10:11 PM

Looks really nice. Would consider it if I wasn't so scared of taking the dash gauge cluster apart. :(

We are on the same boat. One of the reason why I started, the price would be reasonably priced once its finished. I am having friends and family who work in related field to pitch in effort so hopefully it will be good and cheap. :D

Well keep me in the loop for sure!

Very nice.

Kodename47 01-05-2016 04:31 AM

How about the potential for other markets? MPH and GT86 in place of FRS would be nice ;)

I'd be really interested if it had the 86 logo or the Toyota lettering instead.

im not usually a big fan of gauge cluster mods, but that one looks clean and oem. i like it

xFury 01-05-2016 01:52 PM

I actually like it. Depends on the price tho.

go_a_way1 01-05-2016 01:54 PM

I like this one too, but I still like the one I have a little bit more. That being said, this would be the only other one I would consider

SkAsphalt 01-05-2016 06:01 PM

Would do 10/10

YamahaR86 01-05-2016 09:00 PM

I like it bit some questions.

Does the White part of the RPM glow when the lights are on?

Temperature/coolant, are those accurate min/max numbers?

Lastly, if you do make these. Please make sure to include the little triangle next to the gas icon. On most if not all cars, it points to which side the gas lid is on when pulling into a petrol station.

It would be possible to have GT86 lettering or FRS letter or BRZ lettering. I think I would leave it up as optional. The only other option might be letter buyer choose km/h or mph for the dials. However, I am leaning toward having a hybrid dial to cut down on cost of having to produce different templates. But, we will see how things goes.

Thanks for the heads up on the gas lid pointer, I am working to make the white parts of the RPM glow when lights are on. However, it might end up too intense for driving at night, so I may change it to have a bluish hue glow like on the new Lexus F Sport models.

I have the basic template out, and will be testing how the lights work with such dramatic change. But rest assure, I aim to make everything work perfectly.

nova.86 01-06-2016 05:33 PM

Looks great, I'd definitely be interested, BRZ option & bluish hue glow would look amazing

Looking forward to the finalizing and options! :)

I like where this is going but heres an idea, whynot make some actual use of the speedometer on the left. Its completely useless and the space could be taken up by othee gauges or a screen. Would be expensive but innovative to this platform.

Pretty sure other companies have tried but you're essentially messing with a one piece unit if you want to get rid of the speedo on the left to add something else. In that case, they'd have to build a whole new instrument cluster so that each part is separate and can be taken out/removed.

Ah i just looked a picture of it dissassembled and i see what you are saying. I was thinking of removing the needle and that section of overlay and putting a screen on top. Not sure what would become of the various lights that in that spot though. They would have to rewired into the screen, and i dont have the knowledge to know if its even possible. Anyways its getting a little off topic, but it would very interesting to see.

God damn that is amazing....

JW89225 01-08-2016 01:55 AM

Most recent revision. Still got more fine adjustments to go before I call it acceptable. I am going after OEM like quality. The next update will probably after I consult with some "professional" friends. Nothing is set in stone yet, so expect some minor changes here and there such as fonts and layout etc.

In the mean time enjoy!

PandaSPUR 01-08-2016 02:23 AM

Very nice.

My only gripes/critiques right now:
1. The glow around the RPM seems a bit odd/dirty. The red should also be darker. But that seems more like a printer/material quality issue than a design issue.
2. That FR-S lettering feels out of place since theres nothing to light it up :(
- Maybe replace the "Sport S+" lettering with FR-S, BRZ, etc?
3. Same goes for that lil graphic above the RPM needle pivot point. I haven't seen that before, whats the purpose?
4. The font for the RPM looks a bit off to me as well, not sure why though. Again, might just be a printer/material quality issue.

Antuono 01-08-2016 05:40 AM

Can you just get rid of the left side MPH. Would be cool if you could mount some other gauges there Ie. boost, oil pres ect.

ck-GT86 01-08-2016 06:38 AM

I'm in! This looks clean

No worries!
1. All the issue will be fixed once we get it produced on the machines.
2. Most of the ambient letter/logo are still up in the air. I have a few ideas in mind.
3.That little graphic above the RPM needle is straight from a LFA, where it serve as a transmission setting indicator, like on those BMW M cars with different shifting program/ferocity. Purely cosmetic here, could be change or replace with something else. Depends on general feedback.
4. Fonts are ripped straight from the LFA, looks a bit off here but it will be fixed once the file are sent in to be cleaned up.

I like your idea, but to make that happen would put this project way out of most people's league and take an unreasonable amount of time/expertise which frankly would make this whole thing unfeasible.

The aim is to produce a high quality straight replacement to mimic the high tech look and sophistication of the Lexus F Sport series within the physical constraint of the Scion/Toyota/Subaru gauge cluster.

I am sure with enough money and time, it could be made to work :D

Another teaser for now... post #86!

Yup. Ill take one now please.

DustinS 01-08-2016 01:02 PM

Really interested!

In my opinion (Lots of these being shared)

1: Transmission Graphic needs to be removed, as it serves no purpose on our cars
2: Get rid of Sport+ and move the FRS/BRZ in it's place (or just remove it and the car model all together. I don't see a need for either)
3: Dual MPH/KM/h gauge on left side.

Everything else looks really good

ft86me 01-08-2016 01:07 PM

Really awesome concept. I would pick one up. Only thing I would request is to remove the sport s+, remove the FR-S, and the design under the needle where the rpm is.

RickyRacer 01-08-2016 04:38 PM

can you make the rev needle flicker up to redline and down like the lexus does when you start it? Then i buy

Haha I'd love that too but its probably out of scope for this project.

I wonder if OFT could control that?

You just need to move the REV Limit LED under the needle and set the indicator to go off. I am going to tear back into it this afternoon to try and get working. I will PM you a link to how to do it when I finish.

Edit: This cluster design would look sick with the needles from the F-Type Jag
http://image.motortrend.com/f/roadte...nt-cluster.jpg

It has the cutout for the numbers to be seen through the Needle.

1. For the final version, I think I will leave them out. Don't worry!
2. I think I will move FRS/GT86/BRZ to that place as well. Maybe place another graphic where the existing FRS logo is. It will be something discreet and clean in fitting with OEM style.
3. I am planning to have mph fill the red inner ring.

I have some ideas for the needles. But I think that will be something each end user will have to do themselves... ;)
