Trasko oil filters

Anyone on here have any 1st hand experience with them on any vehicle, not just the FA20..?

Hmmm...interesting..

I'd be interested in first hand experiences. I looked at their site a while back. IIRC they didn't have filters to fit my BRZ or WRX though.

They have a terrible website, but through the cross-reference section, I believe the TMR-10SS would be the appropriate filter for the FA20. I also found it interesting that the company got it's start working with Subaru, though it's difficult to tell the extent of that relationship. The website has a ton of hype and annoying verbiage, but if the bottom line is that the product works, I don't really care about their marketing. However, I'd like to hear some firsthand feedback before making that decision...

I looked into this a while back. I emailed them if they had a filter for your car, this is what they replied:

A TMR-10S or a TMR-10SS can fit, depending on the clearance available, both filter diameters are 3.5" and Height is 3.5" for the 10SS and 4.25" for the 10SS size.

Is this stuff any good? There's no real hard proof out there, it's hard to say. I don't see any particular group of guys swearing by their products, but it has been around for a while...

There was a conceptually similar product many years ago whose filter elements essentially consisted of a toilet paper roll. Not surprisingly, there were reports of the filter material breaking down and floating through the motor. However, the Trasko filter media appears to be designed for it's intended use, so I assume it doesn't have that problem.

The big appeal for me is the fine filtration and extended intervals afforded by this. Ten bucks for a replacement filter cartridge is close enough to the price for an OEM filter for it to be justifiable for me. The thing that has me leery is the lack of much 1st person feedback available on the web, especially for a company that claims to have been selling retail for close to 20 years, and fleet for much longer.

I use one of these on my 914 race car:

Pricey but about the same.
I have wanted to get one for the BRZ and have the outer shell anodized blue.

Ha - interesting...I've used basically the same thing on one of my bikes, except it was sold by Scotts...probably the same manufacturer, since the tech specs and pictures look nearly identical. The Trasko was a little more appealing due to the finer filtration claim, plus it doesn't rely on you to do the cleaning; just pop in a new element.
