[EDIT: RESOLVED] Identify this washer from transmission?

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED

I found this washer in my cup holder. My shop did transmission work which involved removing the shifter and I'm guessing it came from somewhere in there. Can anyone identify where this washer is supposed to go?

It looks like the washer below (found in this DIY). What does this washer attach to?

Nothing better than a shop who doesn't install parts correctly.

" Remove the black washer and set aside"

Sounds like they did exactly what they should have.

You know, without the "lets reinstall this now" part of that. So no, they didn't do exactly what they should have.

Unless leaving out parts is suddenly common practice when you put something back together, please enlighten me. Unless he is driving his car without a shifter assembly or had it replaced, then yeah I'd say they didn't do it correctly. Usually dropping the transmission for work involves putting the shifter back in properly. :bonk:

Was a joke based on the posted instructions for christ sake.

People screw up once in a while. So what? For every screw up there are thousands done right but nobody says anything about that.

I hear these cars get totaled easily. Never hurts to be too careful.
