Is there anyway I can swap out my automatic transmission to a manual
 

Sorry if this is a noob question, I am new here. I own a 2013 Subaru BRZ limited auto trans with paddle shifters

I have been playing around with it lately, going out with my friends to empty lots to do donuts and other fun stuff.

My friend owns a manual BRZ 2012(I think) I realized its way easier to drift/donut and the driving experience is way better too. I started off driving a manual but had to get the BRZ because it was a great deal.

After having it for 7 months I am tired of auto, any advice on who I would go to? To get a manual transmission? Also a price estimate will be great

Trade it in for a manual?

I want to keep my car as I got an aftermarket exhaust, better rims and tinted windows. I also put in a new sound system recently

It'll be cheaper just to change out the final drive and keep the auto, or part out and trade the auto for a manual.

....Well that would make it harder. No way to take that stuff off, put it all back to stock, and then trade it in? I mean I'm sure you can swap over to a manual from the auto but I think trading it in might be the easiest route to go. Assuming yours is paid off and wouldn't add any additional financial burden.

It would be the easiest route if I was the first owner of the car. I could be wrong but I don't think I'll get a good chunk of money for it if a 3rd person buys it off of me

You can try kelley blue book to to get an estimate on your car's trade in value. Ur best bet is to turn it back to stock and trade it for a manual.

You can, but ask yourself this:

Do you want to take a $1000-2000 loss on value of the car by trading it in and buying a comparable manual?
Or do you want to take a $2000-3000 loss on parts needed to swap to manual?

I bought it for about 25k the blue book value right now says 20k. I guess I'll just have to weigh out the pros and cons a bit more.

But if I decide to go the way of switches trans (which seems like a bad idea according to the responses) who would I hit up? Dealership? Aftermarket shop? Like I have no clue haha

Do it yourself, or else you're throwing even more money away. Like everyone else said, just trade your car in for a manual. Literally any hit below $4000 you take, you'll still come out "ahead" versus doing a transmission swap.

Not trying to be an ass, but you sound like you have literally no idea what's involved in a swap like this. It's not like in the old days where it was swap the transmissions out for each other, there's tons of electronics and stuff you need to consider as well

Another option is to just drive your AT and enjoy the shit out of it like countless others do.

You are absolutely right I have no clue how to do a swap that's why I was here to see if I could get it done from someone else but I see a few trade offers around my area I'll look into it.

Probably going to end up leaving it as an AT and spend that money that I would have spend on a trans switch on a turbo

Before you go turbo, I'd look at getting a different final drive. Either a 4.56 or 4.67 would make the automatic's gearing feel pretty close to the manual. I'm too lazy to do the math right now, but I'm sure someone who's done it can chime in.
