I pushed him to his edge of comfort an offer of $15k cash....he is thinking about it will let me know tomorrow....I want to see people opinion....am I overpay? His car got some of the best mod parts, see below, it too good of a car to pass if it's a right deal....initially, my $15k was resrved for the FRS....my UltraMarine 6MT is at the dealer waiting for my sig, I'm torn between these two cars.

It has 230hp and 165tq i dyno tune it at erick racing it stills run good and fast it fun to ride clean record clean title. I invested almost 6000 for aftermarket parts and labors into this car. i am asking $18000 or obo cash only.

RWD>FWD! Depends if you want to go in a straight line or take turns and :burnrubber:LOL. And have a car with 80000 miles. I would do the FR-S then you have RWD and a brand new car and warranty.

Linseal 06-26-2012 08:33 PM

FR-S

ichitaka05 06-26-2012 08:51 PM

It has a nice mods... but I'll put that $15k on FR-S. Maybe I'm bias here, but if I gonna go used route, I rather put IS300 w 2JZ turbo swap w other mods or STI, MRS, & so many better used car out there w that price tag.

M-17 06-27-2012 12:28 AM

I think that price is a bit overpriced. And at 80k miles, you're better off investing your money in a new car that you can make into your own. Its not a bad car though, its just that price tag throws leads me to say pass (@$15k or $18k).

Eh my fwd car is faster than my brz in both I'd bet.

However I wouldn't buy an rsx.

Yea some are quick. But i prefer the FR-S anyway. Got my tC to 15.1 with only IHE:thumbup:

That is not a Mugen front lip and I don't know of any adjustable Mugen coilovers. I'm a Mugen freak since the 90's and have owned several Mugen parts ranging from EF to DC5. Just fyi...

edit:
It's Hondata...not honda data

Correct on the Hondata/lip.. but there are Mugen N1s for the DC5. N1s are awesome dampers too but I'd be surprised if he has those.. they retail for 4k without springs and he said he's put ~6k in... so if they are Mugen's they are likely the Sports which are quite a bit different :) Not sure how you missed N1s (and before that N0s) for all that time though!

He's stating ANY adjustable Mugen Coilover ;)

If there's Mugen coilovers for other Hondas, I'm pretty sure there's for DC5

edit: Just did quick search, & I only found Mugen SS for DC5

N1's are available also. I've seen a DC5 with N1s with Bob Endicott driving it.

Just the dampers and joints will run you ~5k, plus whatever springs you want...

Either way I bet you are correct on the car in question, unless he's talking used pricing maybe.. Even then most people who rock N1s wouldn't do some of those other mods..

Good tips guys, if I end up getting this car I'll asked him the stuff you guys mentioned and demand receipts for it or else deal is dead.....so far he hasn't answer back so my guess is he is taking his time mulling for better offer.....anyway I'm the one with $$$$$ here, and it seems he "overstated" some of his parts....I'm not so fond of that....

Coming from an RSX-S with I/RH/E RBC maifold & street tuned Hondata K-Pro, I can say that in my experience I definitely have more fun (straight or corners) with the FR-S; yea I was in that 225whp range & it would kill the FR-S by lengths on a roll, but from a dig you will get beat out by an FR-S on the stock Michelin's; unless you have slicks or LSD on the RSX; Although I had sticky Hankooks on there, the RSX-S is still open diff (you can imagine the loss of traction that ensues when trying launch haha) & it was nothing like the launch & accessibility of the FR-S.
If it's corners you are after, the RSX-S is very light & tossable for real, but again that RWD feeling is unmatched, the control you get is satisfying and it's simply a blast!

Along with 80k miles? It will start to show wear soon; at 130k of moderate care I had things start on me like wheel bearings, torn bushings, timing chain issues, & hydraulic issues.

Another test is to sit in both cars; the FR-S is definitely more comfortable, supportive, & engaging; both of your choices show it's obvious you want to end up in a performance car; the FR-S will give you the best in every area I say =D

Good luck on you decision & yea! like others have said, be mindful of this guy saying what kind of parts he has on there like the (Mugen) suspension & only dropping 6k; I'd advise against this all together, but it is ultimately how you feel about it!

I came from a K20 Si with similar mods making probably the same-if-not-more power. $15k? He's trying to get a lot for all those mods I take it. I had 65K miles on mine and got $13.5k on the trade-in. I know private party is different and maybe he's pushing for the mods, but I feel like the RSX is old news and 80K miles... bah.

That being said, I love the FR-S way more even if it isn't as fast (yet). RWD and the handling... the TURNS! It looks better and acts better, no contest there.
