tail lights shorted out

My running lights for the taillights when the headlights are on have shorted out. At first i hought it was just a fuse. Replaced fuse, turned on lights and fuse immediately blew. it was raining and the lights have had condensation issues. i have searched to no avail so any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated. Yes i have the wiring diagram and a multimeter.

Are your tail lights OEM ..... ??

You might try replacing the tail light (and licence plate) bulbs to see if one of them is a bad actor (shorting out).

While you have them out, turn on the lights and see of the fuse still blows, if yes, the problem is further upstream.

Wow I have the same exact problem. Have you resolved your problem yet? I am going to attempt to reconnect tail light wiring harness and try again...

Well, TennisHsu, like they say in the old country "if you do the same thing over and over again and expect different results .......".

I suggest you refer to post#2 up above.

Let us know how it turns out ..... ;)

Check the wire harness for the interior dome light in the trunk. I had the same problem and it was shorted as shown in this pic.

My led license plate light was the short culprit. Inspecting the bulb up close, I could see some brown discoloration, which was the reason I kept on blowing my tail light fuse.
