Itching for more
I've had my '15 BRZ for about 4 months now. After riding with my friend in his STI I can definitely say that I want some more power. In my current situation I don't want to spend too much so I don't really know if FI is a good way to achieve this. I don't want my motor to blow and then need to spend much more on rebuilding it. So far I've looked at the SPD Stage 1 Turbo with 10psi. I also want to do E85 for the extra power.
I'm mostly focused on reliability and speed. I definitely want to go fast but I don't want every drive to be a risk. I'm fairly new to cars and so if I get any parts I would want to install them myself to get some experience. |

Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Pick two. And then I ask, what is your budget? |
Why not a supercharger? You can easily achieve 300whp on 93. And even more on e85. Which is substantial in this car. It may not sound like much to people obsessed with dyno numbers. But It'll toast an sti.
Plus you don't need to worry about someday your boost controller malfunctioning and suddenly you're at 15 psi instead of 10. I plan on going with the edelbrock supercharger myself. Plenty of low end power. Very reliable. 300-350whp is very possible especially on e85. |
Save for forced induction. It is really the only thing that truly makes a difference. Having said that to get the most out of FI you'll need the supporting mods first so.... some type of tuner and a header will get you headed in the right direction. Just make a plan for yourself and don't deviate from that, otherwise you'll wind up buying parts that don't fit and have to go rebuy stuff.

Reliable would be a lower power carb tune. Jackson racing, Edelbrock(36k warranty* read the details). Add an oil cooler at ~500 Jackson is ~5k Edelbrock ~5400 You will probably need better brakes and tires. |

I vote for weight reduction

You picked the wrong car if you wanna drag. Or you better have a bigger budget. Feel free to ask specifics though! Good luck. |
If it's the V6 pony cars you're worried about, forced induction isn't even necessary in my opinion. And force inducing an otherwise stock car would make it imbalanced. If your budget is $6k, you could save some money and get a quality header, ECU tune, and a shorter final drive. Put the remaining funds towards quality suspension, sticky tires, and performance brake pads. You'll keep up in the straights and absolutely destroy them in the corners.

I planned to stay NA and just get E85 but I don't know if that's enough to beat some ponies. |
