need info on mentions vs. tags, and how-to
 

Do we have definitions for these 2 terms and how to execute them on the keyboard . I've never done any of this before on other forums I've belonged to. Thanx!

A mention is a way to link to someones account of you click it (so you can send them a PM ect) as well as give them an alert like a quote.

A tag is used to put someone's name on a thread so other people can find other threads that someone may be involved in. Search for a tag I am tagged in and you will see my name top up at the top. There is only 1 thread about me so thats all you will find on me. No one here tags users in threads and mentions are really only used to try and bring someone into a conversation around here. Hope that helps :)

To tag someone I think its at the top somewhere but don't bother with that as you will probably never use it

Even when done properly, mentions only seem to work about 50% of the time. I know that I frequently stumble across mentions in threads that I never received.

@Tcoat I have had limited success with mentions.

Hahaha!! No I am helpful when I want to be or when people PM me. It's odd that people found out that by PMing me they get a legitimate response from me, I never told anyone I do that until now hahaha.

I probably have had as many PMs with questions as I have posts.

Do mentions work for you this time?

That time it did. It only seems to work sometimes. Its best to quote someone to send them a notification

I remember reading that mentions only work if it was part of the text in the first submission of the post. Mentions don't work if they're added in an edit.

So, @jcw99 and @go_a_way1 should get their mentions

edit: but @Tcoat and @KR-S 86 won't.
