Sounds like a very bad financial decision overall. Obviously you have not given any details, but normally trading out of a car shortly after buying it is not well thought out.

I like the '13 hatch. Definitely more utility than the FRS or WRX sedan.

I had an STI hatch. It's probably my favorite body style for that model because of how practical it was. Plenty of space to take people and cargo. Most passengers thought it was comfortable. AWD was great in the snow and rain. Loads of torque once the turbo spooled. Fun car.

On the downside, the paint chipped easily. It was pretty loud on the highway. The interior design looked dated even back then. I got around 19 mpg mixed. I didn't like how unsupportive the front seats were for sporty driving. The handling/steering were a bit mushy.

If you're looking for sporty but practical cars, I'd also test drive a GTI. Not as fast, but nicer interior.

Forester XT would be a better fit IMO. More utility, same powerplant.

So.... when did you find out she was pregnant?

What Summer said ^ . Just drove a 2015 Forester for the first time a few months ago. Very impressed.
