First upgrades to the transmission
I just picked up a used 13 BRZ a little over a week ago and wanted to start making some upgrades to the trans to make it a little smoother.
I was thinking
Not buying all of this right away but these are all fairly cheap mods that I have read about and people seem to get a good quick result. I wanted to make sure all of this would fit together especially with the short shifter. I was thinking about adding the whiteline positive shift kit, but someone told me it won't go with a short shifter. So I wanted to check with more informed/knowledgeable drivers to see if all of this would fit together. Thoughts? Also is there anything else that could generally help the feel of shifting for a fairly low cost? Thanks for any help/feedback! |
I use the Whiteline Positive Shift Kit with the TRD Quickshifter and MTEC springs without any problems.

I would just do one thing at a time so you can actually feel the difference each makes. I had the same plan as you. but first I did the motul gear oil, and then I did the perrin rear shifter bushing. And thats where I stopped because I am happy with how it shifts with just those two.

Only have done the Motul 300 myself. Planning on doing short throw and bushing pretty soon.
If you plan on doing both transmission and differential oil at the same time, I recommend doing the differential first if aren't going to use a fluid transfer pump. I did the transmission first and getting the last half of the bottles into the diff was a major PIA. |

side note... and i might get crap for this because I might be the only one who doesn't really like the MTEC shift springs. It basically puts it into gear for you(it basically snaps it into gear, and out of gear), to me that reduces shifting/syncro feel. |
