I hope not because that's how mine sounds...

Sound like a good ol' boxer engine on my end. They are noisy beasts and have been compared to an old Russian tractor sound more than once.

Hello @ryounensan and welcome to FR-S ownership .... and our fine forum.

I reckon your car's engine is just fine.

The sound you are hearing is most likely the HPFP (High Pressure Fuel Pump) just doing it's thing. The pump is a positive displacement type pump, that has to make that sound in order to make the high pressure required for the direct injection fuel system.

Thanks all. First ever sports car ive owned. Cant wait after break in period to test out the C license on the autox course :) i thiught i was trippin out since common probs on the gt86's are in the engine bay. And me not having enough knowledge in that category lets me go a lil paranoid.

Relax ...... just read the owners manual, service it according to the schedule, use only premium gas and stay way back from parking stops.

The car will usually show you a light if it's ailing .....

IMHO, most "common problems" with the gt86's engine, happens after people have been messen with the engine ....
