Do you guys recommend a different brand then mobile one for engine oil?

I've been interested in using amsoil , since i have it on my tranny. At times ill drive rough and hard , but times ill just cruise. i havent done much on my car beside TRD springs and Greddy air intake.

If you do a Google search for Mobil 1 + subaru, you will see there are a large amount of detractors and plenty of supporters as well. Call me biased, but I skip over the cheaper bargain oils, which is usually a Mobil 1 5-quart jug for $20, and end up spending 2-3 times more for my preferred brand.

It's hard to really judge though unless somebody is tearing down their FA20 and inspecting wear, and BITOG forum information on whether an oil is good / bad can be kinda hard to judge whether it is opinion or fact.

Recommend oil? What ever you dump in it would be fine. Just depends how much you want to spend for basically the same product. And how much of a fan boy you want to be, or which oil companies have the coolest looking sticker.

On that same note. I avoid using Amsoil because a bunch of goofy rednecks love it. I avoid using Motul and Enos, because a bunch of goofy ricers love it. I avoid Pinzoil because a bunch of goofy Jiffy Lubes love it. etc, etc, etc, you get what I'm saying? Do you know what I mean?

TGMO 0W20 that Toyota uses in most of their models is made by Mobil. The used oil analysis' I read indicates it holds up very well in this application. I see no reason for me to switch in my car.

i use either the "toyota" oil or mobile1. depends at the time on whichever one i get a better deal for a box of them

I run Castrol Professional OE, Its really hard to find in stores (only some dealers in my area can get it) but it is amazing oil.

IMHumbleO, there is little difference between the higher quality oils. There is a difference between Dino, Semi Syn and Full Syn, sure. But... in all my years reading this forum, the corvette, Porsche and truck forums, I can't ever remember ever a person saying they had an engine failure or damage because they used that crappy Mobil 1 and would still have a motor if I had only used Amsol, or Castro or Valvoline, etc... For probably 99.995% of us the differences is engine wear, performance etc cannot be measured, especially as often as it gets changed. Really the best thing you can do, catch a sample of oil when you change it and send it off to Blackstone Labs for a $25 analysis. I do it all the time with my vehicles and can't say I've ever seen any significant difference in results that can be correlated to oil brand.

Get a good quality synthetic at a good price and call it a day... you will be fine.

This is what I recommend ...... it will add at least 10 HP .......:D

Hey, that's good stuff. Rocket motors get super hot.

Mobil 1 is the "winningest" oil in history. It is also the best selling synthetic oil on the planet right now. You cant go wrong with Mobil 1. If you want to spend $22 a quart on something like Millers, go ahead, but I think that is ridiculous for a street car, or even a race car for that matter. Anything synthetic will perform just fine in a street environment. The only one I'd stay away from is Royal Purple, I've never seen anyone use racing to advertise as much as them, but I cant find where they have actually won anything.

I've been using Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec (now called Castrol Edge) for the past 15 years in all of my cars. Both have done a fine job protecting my cars; never had any engine trouble, and have had four of those cars go WELL over 200K before I sold them for reasons not engine-related.

Having said that, I've been STRONGLY advised by a German car mechanic specialist that Liqui Moly/Lubro Moly is the best stuff out there, and he's pushing me to use it in my Mercedes. I might try it; it's not a ton of money more than the usual suspects (although my ML500 takes NINE @%#@$ quarts of oil... sigh).

Who knows. The best thing to do is change your oil frequently and use a good filter. The BRAND of oil is relatively inconsequential.

Conclusion: a lube is just a lube, it might come in different flavors but they all do the job fine. 😘

Is the Subaru dealer oil + Subaru oem filter good for daily driver/hard driven? i change the oil every 4-4.5k miles.. I drive this car hard and based on stuff i read the subaru dealer has oil consumption issues (not sure how true this is.. im at 16k and has not have any issues so far)

So i was thinking on going with motul oil? Any advise/recommendations?

? Find a different dealer without a drinking problem, or at least one smart enough to drink SCOTCH and not oil?!?!?
