Where should I buy poutine?

Have a couple weeks off of work. Doing a little solo road trip from Guelph to Montreal for some poutine on Monday. Anyone have some suggestions?

You have to check out La banquise for sure. Montreal classic for locals and tourists alike. Also good is Poutineville if you want a twist on the classic.

St. Albert's Cheese Factory

If you're willing to make a pit stop along the way to MTL, you can go to the St. Albert's Cheese Factory (150 Saint Paul Street, St-Albert, ON) and have the poutine there with the best cheese curds straight from the source.

My favourite in Ottawa.

The Great Canadian Poutinerie (formerly known as the Vanier Snack Shack). Corner of Hannah and Deschamps.

I'm a regular and the guys all love my FRS.

In Montreal, definitely visit La Banquise, or Poutineville.

Let me know if you need any other suggestion or have any questions!

The first time I had poutine was in Kingston, ON, at the Toucan/Kilpatrick's. I don't know how it stacks up against the best out there 'cause I'm hardly a connoisseur, but I order it there every time I get to Kingston; it's always our first night out. That, followed by their steak and kidney pie. It was an eye-opening experience many years ago.

The most interesting I've had was here in my area, near Syracuse, NY. An upscale place offered duck poutine... smoked duck w/ goat cheese over potatoes fried in duck fat, although I can't remember what the "gravy" portion consisted of. It was transcendent, but too "groovy" to really recreate the original poutine vibe at the Toucan. Poutine requires a loud bar and sloppy pints. Soccer matches on the pub tubes doesn't hurt, either.
