Plastidip whole car
 

So, my gf accidentally hit my rear bumper. No dents or anything but a few chip paints. Small enough that it looks like its rock chips.
Thinking of diy plastidip the whole car.
I have a lightning red, thinking of sticking with the base red. Not sure yet.

Anybody done plastidip the whole car?

I'd recommend against it. Spend a bit more and get it wrapped. Or spend a bit less and get your bumper fixed.

Also an option: touch up paint.

Plastidip does look good, if done right. If you plan to use a rattle can to do the whole car, it's going to look like a rattle can paint job.

It all depends how much you want to spend.

I'll get one tom. Thinking of the touch up paint. If I try to get the whole bumper done, its would probably cost me couple of hundred. If I buy the whole car kit, cost me the same.

Did plastidip already on my stock wheels and they are great. Just looking to see if anyone here has done a whole car dip.

F that Plastidip. Still peelin that shit off my son's WRX. It's only been all summer and there's still remnants of it around trunk opening and fender and door edges.

It'll peel right off they say. Yeah, if you spray it thick enough. If you spray it thin around trim and window mouldings etc. expect to spend lot of time removing it. They sell a 'remover' which is a heavy citrus based (at least that's what it smells like) and then that takes a couple of washings with soap to remove that as well.

For the sake of you and your car's reputation, please don't. People will make fun of you and laugh and it'll only get worse as the heat/sun will melt the plastidip onto the actual paint and become a pain in the ass to remove.
Try removing plastidip off your wheels after summer. You'll see what I mean.
Just get touch up paint. Plastidip, no matter how cheap and easy it is to use, isn't worth it.

False, and you are just making the whole car scene look bad with your negative opinions like that.

Those DipYourCar jobs cost almost as much as a regular paint job by the time you've bought the pearl additives, special spray gun (in fairness, the gun is pretty cheap), glossifier, etc. The first time guy in his garage is not going to get these same results.

Also, even the best dipped job is pretty obviously not paint in person.

Advice to OP - just get the bumper painted. It's the cheapest / easiest thing to do. If you want to play with plastidip after that then go ahead (just let the new paint cure for a while first).

get it touched up...not really a fan of dip your car scene however a nice vinyl wrap should be good if you want to do the whole car

It's called an opinion so it can't be 'false'.
And those dip jobs are as said above, as much if not more than a full wrap or paint job so at that point, might as well get a full paint job. Plasti-dip, as good as you can make it look, is still a crap job to take off and maintain. Especially if someone rather plastidip their whole car rather than pay for touch up paint.
