New head unit/speakers

Ok well I was planning on full exhaust, intake, and tune first but I don't know how long it will take for new maps to come out I decided I'm doing the stereo first .

I believe I'm going with the kenwood dnx9990hd for the head unit . After thinking about it I decided not to put a sub in the car as I don't want to add that much weight so I'm going to replace the speakers and hook them up to an amp . I was thinking Memphis speakers but I'm open to suggestions . What do you guys think ? I used to work for a custom stereo shop and installed all my own systems but I haven't been in the industry for about 5 years.

I have a few questions for you: what's your budget; do you want new, or would you consider used gear; and what's your goal, just loud or sound quality?

Budget isn't really an issue , I know about what this should cost. I will never put used gear in my car unless the gear was taken out from one of my cars, I don't like to risk it. As far as what I'm looking for I want the most bass I can get from the speakers but it needs to be very crisp/clear. So if a speaker set that is $200 bucks I'm willing to spend that if it gives me what I want . Cars are not something I cheap out on, wish I had photos of my old explorer I had about 9-10 grand in the stereo alone

I think the big hitters are still there, Rainbow, DLS, Focal, Alpine, RE. I've heard that RE has the best bass for a component set.

I haven't really done my research, but does anyone know the speaker sizes for the FR-S?

And since you worked at an audio shop, i'm sure you know this. I would recommend purchasing an amp for your speakers, instead of letting the headunit power the speakers

I am gettin an amp for the speakers, you can't get any performance runnin them off the head unit IMO . I don't know the speaker sizes I believe I've seen them posted tho , from what I remember they're pretty small
