Borla UEL fix?
I have the Borla UEL, with the donut looking flex joints which I know are prone to leak, starting to get some sound from them now and was wondering if anyone has removed completely to replace with standard piping. Because I noticed that a lot of the headers do away with the flex joint.
Any and all help is very appreciated thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you're sure it's leaking, and it's under warranty, I'd call them and discuss sending it back. I don't see why one couldn't cut out the flex joints and weld in a solid piece of pipe. HOWEVER, you might want to have them bolted onto the engine to do most of the welding ...... to make sure they fit. Now, what could go wrong with THAT project ....... * finding the right size piece of pipe * SS is not all that easy to weld * one could mess up the whole header with crummy welding * welding on a car engine which is full of gas * maybe, the rest of the piping is relying on that flex piece to maintain its integrity .. ? humfrz |
If you're the original owner, they warranty it for life, no questions. And you'll get the new joints. :D

I thought borla still backed up their product even if it's not original owner. I may be very wrong though.
edit: nevermind, their website clearly says original owner only. sorry buddy. |

I have had their UEL header on for roughly 10k miles and all is well with no leaks or any rattling. When they first designed the header, the joint was extremely prone to leaking but since the 2nd version came about, I've been seeing hardly any complaints. There are definitely headers out there that will give you better performance but they are not worlds better and for the money, I couldn't pass up my deal. |
