Helmholtz resonator pointless on a turbo car?
As the thread title states. Is paying extra for a helmholtz resonator on a front/midpipe a waste of cash on a turbo car?
Will the frequency cancellation take in effect on the exhaust underboost? Will having it's opening just past the downpipe cause a bit more backpressure negating any gains vs a straight through style resonator? |
The resonator should still have an beneficial effect as its tuned to cancel out a certain range of frequencies that create 'boom' and drone on this car
and there's no performance disadvantage to having one unless its badly designed |
Wanted to chime in here,
I put the Nameless Helmholtz resonator on my car when i was having a drone issue and it most definitely helped, and it did not cause a performance issue. Something you can also do is put on pipes like this http://synapseengineering.pinnacleca...parent=23&pg=1 and improve the drone issue |
