Motul 300 and MTEC Shifter Springs

Hey Guys,

Just ordered 4L of Motul 300 for a fluid swap and MTEC Shifter Springs. Anyone else with these mods, do you notice a big difference in shifting? Worth the money?

- Thanks!

Slight difference, but I think you'll see a much larger difference with a shortshifter. It was a bit stiffer and less notchy while shifting when the car is fully warmed up. Be careful when installing the MTEC shift springs. Make sure to pick out all the loctite and not to cross thread your transmission housing with the bolt or you're fucked lol

I stripped the hole for the detent. The loctite was impossible to get out of the thread.
If you don't have patience, I'd recommend paying a shop to do it cuz the chance of messing up the thread can be quite easy

Love my MTEC springs. As for the Motul 300, I have it in the trannie now, but will be going back to Pentosin soon. It just "feels" better.

The Gear 300 Feels better. That said in Winter (we have a 6 week winter) when it's close to 0C or 32F, 2nd doesn't exist until it's been driven for 10 minutes. Given that for over half of the year it doesn't get much below about 80F Cold shifting isn't an issue. Thats at night mind you. Daily Temps are in the 100-120s and the stock fluid just did not do the job at those temps.

It made a noticable difference in my car, but I also added one of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Suspension-8-1105G-Shifter-Bushing/dp/B00CYDGH2Q"]Amazon.com: Energy Suspension 8.1105G Shifter Bushing Set: Automotive[/ame]
The combination removes all the vague feeling in shifting this trans. The Motul just makes driving more pleasurable, though I do notice that it needs to be warmed up. 2nd gear is very notchy until I get a few miles on the car whenever it's below 45 degrees.

You live in Massachusetts, if I understand MA correctly? You're not going to like Motul 300 in the winter. It's fucking awful. When it's warm out the fluid does its job, but in the cold you might as well just throw grease in there.

After having the fluid in mine for only a few days, maybe a few weeks, I changed to a mixture of Redline fluids. It's worked really well for me. You could try either of their fluids and likely be happy.

Or as another user posted, pentosin has been well regarded. I haven't tried it myself, the redline stuff was easier to get ahold of.
