Social Media Idiots

So today I'm scrolling through my Instagram and I see a GTR posted up by Evasive Motorsports and I comment that I would like that wing. I've seen photos of it on a few 86 and I'm actually quite smitten with it but the process to make it happen is a big too daunting at the moment. A few moments afterwards a keyboard warrior decides to call me out and my "rice mobile". The following conversation ensues.
Let's use this thread to show the stupidity of others. And follow me on Instagram. Haha. Attachment 127054Attachment 127055Attachment 127056Attachment 127057Attachment 127058 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Not surprised. 85% of Facebook comments is full of swaggots, children, and morons in general.
EDIT: Took another look and it seems the friendly conversation would not have started if you didn't say "he thinks his opinions matter." Just my outlook, though. P.S. a GT-R wing looks surprisingly decent on a BRZ. But you'd do better than a GT-R wing. Just my two cents. |
Yeah, any response is doomed. You can't win. It would have been best to let it pass.*
*I love the irony. I'm posting my opinion lol. With that in mind I suggest a chocolate milkshake. |
The correct response to the guy would have been to self-deprecate to such an extreme that he can't outdo it. After he said "too nice of a wing for your rice mobile", you could say:
"Yeah I want it so my car will go as fast as a GTR, I heard that wings make the car go fast by making the air speed up. Do you think it'll work? I hope I can afford a real GTR one day and I'm trying to save money but I really want this wing because it's so cool!" |
Hey be nice to Captain douche nozzle. Its not his fault he's got small balls.

The internet is not a safe space.

Yeah, I hate those Trump supporters.

Sorry, I don't have any input.
I just want this in my subscription list so I can find it next time I play "1001 reasons not to be on facebook/instagram/things" with someone. |
When I read the title of this post I thought it would be about idiots who almost run over you on the street because they are busy checking Facebook, Instagram of Twitter on their phone while they are driving. Or perhaps the ones that walk into you on the sidewalk because they are doing the same. How can the "connected" generation be so disconnected from the world around them? I particularly like to watch a group of friends who are at a bar or restaurant together for a night out and everyone of them has their smart phone out with their noses buried in them. Life is going on all around them and they are missing it. Idiots!

To be honest, VMRamos, I'm not sure why EITHER of you participated in such a pointless exchange; you both come off pretty juvenile in the whole thing. Obviously, I don't know you at all so I'm basing my comment SOLELY on the posted exchange.
I guess I KIND of get it; when my wife and I are driving together with the windows up and we see somebody do something stupid that strikes us as comment-worthy, we make comments to each other.. but IN OUR CAR. Not in public for the world to see what nasty people WE are, making fun of others. Why in the world would you send something publicly to your girlfriend just to pick a fight with some guy who's opinion you obviously, and rightly, don't care about? That's bizarre. Then again, I'm the kind of guy who tends to defuse bar fights rather than use'em as an excuse to take someone out who may very well deserve it. Avoid conflict, until you can't avoid it. Then end it. I know lots of folks who simply enjoy conflict, physical or verbal. To each his own, I guess.. as long as no one gets hurt who doesn't want to get hurt. Personally, I save my sparring for the gym. So.. yes. Another sterling example among thousands of why I don't participate in InstaSpam, WasteBook, Quitter, or any of the other UNsocial media options out there. I'm on this forum, a sailing forum, a pilot's forum, and some professional audio forums. Used to participate on brickboard.com, a Volvo 240 forum, when I owned them. Facebooked for two months, then bailed a few years ago. So far, the forums I currently participate in have a good signal to noise ratio, and the "off-topic" stuff's ratio of interesting/amusing to stupid/offensive is pretty good, too. Sure hope it stays that way. I don't have a lot of faith left in people in general these days... which reminds me... I've got to go give my German Shepherd a hug. Someday, I hope to be the man he thinks I am. Best to all. Sorry if this stung a bit, VM. I don't mean to be unkind. AND.. my opinion doesn't matter, either! :) Barry |
