That makes at least two of us. I think the push button start is a silly gimmick and I hate them. So I am "stuck" with buying a "basic" FRS. Although it's hard to call a car "basic" when it comes with A/C, CC, PW/PL/PM, TC, remote trunk release, ABS, 4-wheel discs, alloy wheels, back up camera, tilt/telescope leather steering wheel, floor mats, auto headlights, and air bags. My first car, a 1979 Celica, came with none of the above and I would be perfectly happy if I could get a car with just the A/C, CC, and 4-wheel discs out of the above list. Then I would also have a "blank canvas" to add the parts I want. It pains me to buy new alloys to replace factory alloys instead of factory steelies, for example. |

As far as the rest of the list goes you will never see a car without most of that again. That is the new definition of "basic" I am afraid. |
You can get a Nissan versa with crank windows and manual locks.
You can get a Nissan frontier without AC and radio with a manual. Unfortunately, nobody makes a stripped down single cab manual truck anymore. Now with this reverse camera BS being mandatory..... every car will have a "cool" radio and go up in price. We keep paying for safety features that are being mandated. |

Many pine for the good old days and the base cars but there were valid reasons why most features are there now. Do agree that things like mandated back up cameras may be getting a bit carried away though. I have no clue how they can manage to not offer stripped down pickup since many want a simple work vehicle. We tried to order a stripped down Ford for work and although we could get one it was going to take 6 months and cost more than a stock "base" model off the dealer lot. |

I actually looked at a Nissan frontier. The base model without radio and a four cylinder five speed extended cab truck (no standard cab available) was still like 20K. I remember in 2003 when I bought a base model standard cab S-10 for 10,200.... if they still made those trucks I'd still have one, lol. |

Just because it is repaired does also not make it an "unsafe car". They can fix them just as good as new. As much as it may suck for the owners if every car that ever got damaged was written off then insurance premiums would be 10 times what they are now. If it can be fixed it should be (Easy for me to say it isn't my car, I know). If somebody else's fault then go for diminished value. If your own fault then suck it up and enjoy your freshly painted car. |

I actually considered an Xterra pro-4x with a six speed manual. I really liked those things, could still tow and was pretty fun to drive. I wound up getting a Subaru forester to daily. |
Thank god you're ok!
Like I said,,the car never leave you. I will drive my FRS until it cannot be repairs! Take good care of it!!!And drive it until it dies! |
