OK let me be specific how each failed to hit the mark which the FT86 has hit:

RX-8: Fuel economy terrible, reliability, imho kind of ugly
S2000 and Miata: Too small to be practical DD's
Gen Coupe: Too heavy more of a GT but IMHO closest to the mark
370z: Too heavy

S2K and Miata were not meant or marketed as DD. Thats like faulting the FT86 because its not convertible or because its not AWD. It wasnt marketed to be a convertible or an AWD.

I kinda agree with you on the 370Z but then again it handles really well and has decent usuable power. Technically you could fault the Z for being too small for a daily driver too. I could barely get one suit case in the back and if I had to pick someone up from the airport I was better off taking the other car.

My biggest gripe about the Miata is that there's no true coupe version. A hardtop convertible, yes, but not a true coupe.

That's true that they aren't marketed as a DD but it's still a fault for a lot of people. That's what made me choose a BRZ over a Miata or S2000. They are great cars for fun/weekend cars but I wouldn't want to drive one to work every day.

I wasn't bad mouthing those cars, I was only saying they did not hit the mark which the FT86 hits even though IMHO they tried for the same demographic.

Not an Integra but close enough an Acura IlX Dynamic

2.4-litre, DOHC, i-VTEC® 4-cylinder (201 hp / 170 lb.-ft. torque) engine
Close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission

To be honest, I doubt I would be interested in any other two wheel drive sports car. The 86 is almost exactly what I want. The only thing more I could ask for is some kind of variable valve lift system or individual throttle bodies for a stronger, more linear power band, and stock Brembo calipers for more durability, trackability, easier pad changes, and more eye candy.

$140,000,000 worth of preorders. Impressive.
