Headunit pioneer 4100-nex 12v question

Hey guys this is really a question for you 12v geeks out there. After I installed it it works fine. However lately I've noticed that the head unit will "turn-on" later when I start the engine. Now if I just got to accessory power it turns on immediately. Should I be concerned?

What do you mean? It should be on when the car is on, and on when in accessory mode.

I'll post up a video tomorrow morning. Basically on a 6mt. If I press the clutch start the car. Head unit doesn't immediately come on but till about a minute later.

Now if I just press start button without pressing the clutch then it comes on right away.

It's a known issue. When the engine takes "longer" to turn on (say more than half a second) then the power delivery to the head unit is unstable and it turns on after a minute for whatever reason.

You'll have to get used to it... or cycle to On before you actually press down the clutch and turn the car on, having the radio turn on, off and on, which seems to do the trick.

On another note, are you having any problems with the connection of the screen to the head unit? I don't know if it's common too or if it's just mine

this must be a push button start issue. I do not have this issue with a 13 FRS MT regular key using the 4100NEX

Ahh ok so there are some 86's bros out there with the Sam problem. Yeah tato that is what I was doing still feels un-natural to do tho.

You using CarPlay or android auto? Or something else?

I was going to do the android auto route. So I could load torque and have gauges on the dash for when I go FI. But CarPlay is so much better. So yeah I use CarPlay no problems.

does updating the firmware make the screen response less sluggish?
love the unit but compared to my 5600bhs, the screen load rather slowly

When you say load, is this when your plugging in a device or the native screen?

I'm using Android Auto, but Torque is not compatible with Android Auto yet. You would have to buy the HDMI adapter and use Torque through AppRadio.

I had that adapter, then returned it cause i just wanted to use Android Auto and it didn't work with it (stupid....) and bought the USB needed for Android Auto. So apparently you can't have both

like switching functions, so the home key in the middle to the av selector screen, or the settings wheel, to the audio setting screen. its not major, but noticeably longer than my prior models reactiveness.

Yeah I mean the 4100-nex is the bottom end of the nex line. *shrug* what about apps that you have running in the background? I know CarPlay is slower if I have a metric shite ton of apps running in the background.

Update there is a firmware update for the 4100nex guys. I think I will take a stab at seeing if I can get android auto working with my htc one m8 w/ cyanogen mod. Just really want my gauges on the screen using odblink.

Read somewhere that running an accessory wire direct from fuse box or installing a battery with more CCA than the stock battery resolves this issue.

I went with the battery option and it does fix this.
