How to Install 4th Break Light? F1 Style Rear Bar
http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server50...0.1280.jpg?c=2
I recently bought this and it came today, I couldn't find instructions or a video besides of how the light works [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ysZ7HhlJDY"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ysZ7HhlJDY[/ame] Can I just copy the instruction videos off a Valenti 4th brake light? The video above says installation is easier than others so I don't know if they'd be the same as the Valenti. I understand that he says what I have to do but I need to see it lol. |

If you're not comfortable with this type of wiring work I'd let a friend do it and watch. Typically I find this install easy since I'm used to wiring. Mostly what wires to look for (running, positive, negatives), and how to route the wires and connect them properly.

would anyone so happenly be able to know how to reduce the intensity of the flashing lights? Like reducing the frequency of the lights just a bit when braking? I'd still want to keep the function and try it out, since it'll be useful when I'm commuting in the freeway (the 101) and traffic is always bad going from 75mph to 10mph shortly. Or at least only on heavy braking it functions as F1 brake. Honestly it'd be pretty cool to have a switch on when to turn on the function. It'd be useful to have it on during highway/freeway driving. Sounds like a big project though.. |
Found this

How to install the F1 rear bar brake light on BRZ?
I just ordered this light and was about to install it today, but the instructions are not clear and there is no install video anywhere for this exact part. Every other 4th brake light has a video except this one. Has anyone been able to install this part by themselves or seen someone install it? My main concern is with the possibility of having to sodering some wires? I've looked at the PDFs, throughout the Forums, and Youtube and google, but still nothing. Someone please help a brother out. I will be filming the install video as soon as I figure it all out.

Use the install for the Valenti lights, as described above. It's the same process.

I bought the valentis specifically because there are videos on how to install them

Yea, I’ve watched the valenti install videos. From what I’ve seen I could get about 90% of the install from those videos but it’s the one difference with the F1 style rear bar where you have to solder or use wire taps on the long wires to the short wires that come directly out the back of the bar, but it only comes with two wire taps so I’m assuming I would have to buy two more if I want to avoid soldering? Would love to see some pictures of someone’s install and how they connected the wires. If anyone has this installed please post some pics.

As the factory bar has reverse and ground already running to it, you only need to run long wires for the brake and running lights. That's what the 2 taps are for. Soldering is recommended for the long wires to the housing leads. This is described in the PDF you mentioned earlier along with pictures of connection points.

I have this light installed. I used the two wiretaps and I don't remember if it comes with a post ring for the ground wire. If not you might want to get a ring to put off the ground screw in the trunk to make sure its secure.
This light for the usdm market is a bit different than the one sold in japan and australia. Since this light doesn't have the fog light connector they wired the middle brake light to the parking lights. This causes the middle brake light to be on whenever the parking lights are on and the brake light leds are much brighter and it doesn't quite look right. It still flashes when the brakes are pressed though. Unfortunately it's not as simple to take this light apart as it is for the valenti light since this light is sealed similar to a headlight. My pictures are broken but it may help with the process to take the light apart. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114970 |
