How to get THE most out of your FR-S..

Drive almost any other car first!

My dealership loaned me a Corolla while they took care of the window TSB today. I couldn't stay awake driving it. I was never so glad to be back in my car in my life.

I had to drive a Tacoma for a week while my car was in the shop. I didn't think the week would ever end.

I spent a week driving a rental Sentra. Through those wonderful mountain roads in Tennessee. Talk about disappointed.

What about that Charger you swapped for?

I'm driving my old 1998 Corolla for a bit. It's slow, and it doesn't help that there is a clutch problem.

Hit an iceberg and sank.

Perspective is everything. If the only perspective I had was that of my current work car, a Fiat 500 Sport, the FRS seems like a rocketship even in torque dip range.

I drive my girlfriend's Golf TSI once in a while. The throttle lag is horrendous! Our cars have the DBW calibrated pretty good.

I swap cars with my brother for a bit here and there (3 times so far). Once for a week while my car was being repaired because someone hit me while parked. Another day when I had to pick the car up. Lastly, most recently because I needed to put on aftermarket wheels and had to put it all on jacks because I'm transferring the sensors over (for a week).

MAN DID I HATE HIS CAR. It's an Infiniti G35 coupe 2007. The only thing nice was the crazy power that V6 was pulling, I had a hard time adjusting myself to the throttle sensitivity but then got the hang of it. Everything else was... bland. It was heavy, steering had play in it when turning and it felt big and fat.

Also my car is stick while his is auto. Talk about boring.

Nothing worse than travelling for work only to find out that there is a nice Nissan Cube waiting for you as a rental, I thought the car was going to tip over every turn ...

I was in California on business recently and rented a Camaro SS for the 2 hour drive from LA to Palm Springs. It was fast in a straight line, but honestly didn't feel didn't feel a whole lot faster then my car - probably because it felt like I was driving a boat. Handling was crap. I found myself really missing my FRS especially on some twisty stretches in the desert.

Thanks for posting that. The G35 was the other car on my extremely short list of "cars I could stand to own after burying my 325i," but I never test-drove one and always wondered if I had missed out. You just put THAT worry to rest.. :)

I got "upgraded" to a Camaro on one of my rentals and had the same experience. What a boring car. If it's going to handle like a family 4 door, I would just as soon have the family 4 door on my business trips. An Altima would have been easier to get my bag in and out of and wouldn't have presented the parking issues you get with long doors.

I now rent cars once or twice a month for 3 to 5 days at a time. Doing that has convinced me that most cars simply suck. Most cars are designed with engineering and marketing in mind without giving a whole lot of thought to the driver.

I had to drive my 2000 Cherokee for two weeks over Thanksgiving. I love my Cherokee, but when I got back I was itching to drive the BRZ. Went out to crank it, and... nothing. It appears I now have the battery drain a number of people have reported. It was depressing.

Ahem yep, came out of a GT and the driving experience is totally different. My FRS feels like a sports car, my GT felt like a hot rod. I enjoyed it but i need the MPG and my old car was 15 yrs old. I love my 2013 FRS and I love the feeling of driving it. I also love that sexy little super car look. And I even more so love its roots of Toyota 2000. I have always love those and its one of my dream cars
