So what do you do if you get scammed?

I recently bought an OFT from a member here and the seller ceased all contact after I sent him the money through paypal. The package could still be shipping, but just in case, what protocol should I follow if I did indeed get scammed?

File a claim through Paypal, and report the user to a moderator.

What jawn said. I had some dude scam me with TRD springs. I filed a claim through PayPal and eventually got my money back. Although I never directly reported him to the mods on here, I did notice he made another post for the springs and made sure to share my story on there and PMed everyone on the thread that said they'd PMed the guy about them.

How long did it take to get the money back, and did you have to have any evidence to be able to prove your claim

I've dealt with paypal before. It takes maybe a week or 2. No evidence needed, just a statement. Could be case by case. I think if they can't supply paypal with a tracking number you pretty well automatically win

Exactly how long ago is "recently"?
You may be jumping the gun in th assumption you were scammed just because you haven't heard back.

72hrs-1month for me.

Got scammed on a tablet ($600) elsewhere and another time on rent money ($2000) in college.

OP, exactly how did you pay the guy? Did you gift him the money? I hope not.

I agree with @Tcoat, maybe the seller had a family emergency, maybe he/she got sick, maybe is on vacation......

Maybe the op has been so eager to get his Oft That he has driven the seller insane with requests for updates.

Maybe recently was this morning.

So many maybes.

Everybody likes to jump in with zero facts to go on other than the very brief and uninformative istory the op stated.

My policy is to go see the person face to face, calmly state your complaint, and then open fire.

P.S. What is an OFT?

P.S. What is an OFT?

Oft is an English word used sometimes in a literary context, synonymous with "often".

Often ...... get it ........often ... :bellyroll:

Or ...... maybe OpenFlash Tablet ...... :iono:

I get the feeling we're getting trolled...

It was just Thanksgiving weekend...if they're American, give the seller and the delivery service a break. Ever heard of black friday and cyber monday?

Hope you didn't gift it. You NEVER gift unless it's a friend or in person. If you did gift, you're SOL. Want to know what to do if you're scammed like this? Learn from it.
