2016 BRZ has reverse "R" indicator on by default in gauge cluster

2016 has this on by default. Previous year cars had to turn on the gear indicator while the engine was off, and all gears would show.

Just some useless info I found today.

Hm, I thought R would display even if gear indicator is off on previous models?

ichitaka05 11-30-2015 07:48 PM

...or someone at the dealership might of fooling around with it.

But interesting info

That is the 2016 Race Mode that was supposed to go with the turbo that motoring.au said was coming.

mav1178 11-30-2015 08:10 PM

My 2013 does not have R show up when I am using reverse.

This 2016 is a new lease car off a delivery truck, not off the showroom.

But because Racecar™ (™ registered by @Tcoat)

Is it an automatic?

cookiesowns 11-30-2015 11:42 PM

ooo, a 2016. Have you tested VSC Sport yet? To see if the 2016 Japan changes have made it to our MY2016 as well?

Apparently there are steering tweaks when car is in VSC Sport as well as decreased intervention compared to 2013-2015 MYs..

I merely moved the car around to test the Blitz exhaust I've been working with. It's not my car to drive and there's not enough miles on the car to push it.

Decreased intervention? Or it waits longer before stepping in because that would be quite awesome, except most people turn everything off anyway

The first thing means exactly the second thing you described.

It would be cool, because IMHO VSC SPORT is completely useless in its current state. It feels like it's only turning the TCS and Stability systems down by about 10%, when it needs to be more like 30-50%. As a result, I never use it, and just turn everything full off.

With the current trend of car memes in the Memes thread, I felt this was worth making.

Did you set it to not show up? Because my 2013 always has the R show when I'm in reverse

acetothermus 12-07-2015 12:42 PM

My 2016 doesn't do this....:iono:

Perhaps it wasn't turned on by the dealer/factory?

ScoobsMcGee 12-07-2015 12:52 PM

I wonder if the BRZ limited alarm is actually turned on now, too.
