1960s Black Plate is Back, anyone have one?

I've been seeing some pretty new cars with black plates lately and was wondering what is going on, then after looking into it apparently they brought them back. Has anyone gotten the black plate or is thinking about it? I feel like black would blend in more for FRS but at the same time I feel this car looks better on american or older cars (probably because of the 60s bias). Opinions?

I blame GTA V for black plates.

Anyway, there's at least one member who did it here:

The black looks good but not sure how I feel about the bold yellow letters.

Yeah, it would be awesome to have a choice of colors in the letters, but that was the style in the 60s.

Personally, I would have done it if I had a darker colored twin such as a Raven, since it would blend in more.

Depends on the colour of the car. I think they look good with my DGM BRZ. They'd also look good on black or the yuzu yellow cars.

They would definitely look good on Sunrise Yellow RS1s.

Black plates on a white car would contrast greatly. I would say they clash with each other, but that's my opinion.

if it was a black plate with white lettering, I would be all over it.

I imagine that a panda color scheme would pull that off really well.

Got them on my DGM. Buddy has it on his RS 1.0.

Goes really well with the dark colors and the Yuzu.

Yeah, they shipped as early as June. Orders submitted as early as Jan 1, 2015.

Having grown up during the 60s and 70s, seeing black plates on anything other than a 1960s car looks weird to me.

I understand most (all?) of you here (and a lot of people who are buying them, too) are thinking in terms of matching/contrasting your plates to your cars but it still looks weird to me...

it was weird at first too, but after seeing more and more each month, i guess i just got used to it now. i still think it looks best on modern "retro" cars like the challenger. its like a modern retro plate for a modern retro car. lol
