Supercharger VS Turbo
I'm a proud owner of a 2013 10 series frs. It's an amazing car I take it drifting all the time but keep finding myself wanting more power looking at the hks SC seems pretty straight forward do I need to build internals with low compression rings n pistons as with a turbo? Thanks guys I've never dealt with turbos and SC's. Also what are the pros and cons of each thank you guys

On low boost you don't need a built engine. A well designed turbo kit will be better in every way than a supercharger albeit more expensive. And note the well designed part. I only know of one kit that gives this type of response and power. But really do whichever one you enjoy and can afford.

OP, in all seriousness, it would do you some good to research on turbo and supercharger kits. If you were in California, I would have easily suggested the JR S/C or Edelbrock S/C. |

Sorry obviously there's another post about this though I couldn't find it kinda new to this and deff not an engine expert lol I'm looking to get close to 300 hp and 250 tq it's a DD drift car so I deff need something reliable and we have emissions so I have to have an O2 sensor and most turbos delete that right? Sorry for the Dumb questions guys never dealt with boost before but want to understand it before I jump into something a little better and considering I still owe a significant amount on my car

It's not the O2 sensor thats an issue (it stays). Its the fact that a turbo manifold removes the front cat and if therefore hard to pass emissions. Thats the benefit of living in a state in Australia that literally cannot emission test. Even if they wanted to. Because no-where has the gear required.
At 7psi I have 170 kw at the wheels and 220Nm of torque. Now If you add the 20% for the higher calibrated dynos, that brings us to 204kw. Use the 20 kw left on the board since my tune's super conservative and you are pretty much spot on 300 hp. If it was a shop wanting numbers for the interwebs and not a reliable car that can track all day long you could get another 15 kw after that. Don't pick a number is what I'm saying. My 170kw is just as fast as another mans 210kw. Drive the car, feel where it is lacking, decide what you want it to be like, do what you think you need to do to achieve that and then revaluate. I wanted a mild boost that was great for overtaking (super rural as in 1000miles to anywhere with road trains everywhere. Those are 4 trailer Trucks around 60-70 yards long.), super responsive and can take abuse at the track all day long. And thats why I went for the Coyoda. It makes no compromise on what I wanted. Decide what you want then read up about the various kits available. |
Can someone make a sticky for this? We really should have a stick for SC vs Small Turbo vs Big Turbo. The HP and Torque curve of the 3 are entirely different.
