Bang-for-buck axleback/catback?

I just picked up a UEL for black Friday, and will be tuning shortly. The only other part of the exhaust I really plan on changing (for now) would be the axleback. Mainly, I just hate the OEM tips.

Without hearing how the UEL sounds, since it hasn't arrived yet, I'm assuming that most catbacks with a catless UEL are going to be pretty loud (even with stock OP/FP). This is my DD, and I don't really want to make it stupidly obnoxious, so I'm looking for a somewhat reserved catback or axleback option that will allow me to have better looking tips. Does anyone have suggestions of something like that? Or suggestions on what to avoid?

I really like the tip design and simplicity of Berk, but know that'd be stupid loud. I don't really want to spend the ~$150-200 for Perrin TIPS, if I can get something decent that helps bring out the UEL rumble.

Thanks in advance.

Perrin 2.5 inch resonated cat back or Invidia Q300. That's mainly from a noise Managment perspective though. I didn't pay attention to the tips when I was selecting a catback.

Tips aren't the biggest deal. I just don't want the stockers, and would like to avoid the titanium look. Aside from that, my real concerns are sound quality and budget.

Aren't both Perrin and Invidia well over $750 each? I figured an axle-back may be cheaper, since it's less material/product, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct, but I don't know of any axlebacks that can tame a catless header. Maybe someone else on here does?

The borla axle back looks good, and is pretty mild. When I talked to the guys at Borla, they said this was more of an "s-type" sound, than "touring"

this being different than the OEM offered Borla axleback:

Here's my JDL catless UEL with the Perrin 2.5" resonated. I'm a big fan.

I have that one. The aftermarket, not the OEM offering. It's kinda boring with a stock header, but sounds awesome with an aftermarket UEL

I had a JDL catless UEL header on my BRZ with a TopSpeed Pro-1 axle back (Greddy SP Elite clone). I thought it sounded great. Not too loud, but definitely noticeable.

I was very tempted by that, but I was worried about the hangers from earlier reviews. How does yours sit?

I have a Borla UEL, catless front with the stock catback w/jdm tips. Has a noticeable unique sound but absolutely quiet when cruising. It tuned well and didn't seem to make me lose any power. I was able to run a good amount of advance.

I had a manzo catback but for me it was too loud. The manzo fit well and was only about 350 for the catback. It looked like a Q300 clone.

Kinda expensive for what it is. Better spend on whole catback

It sat pretty much centered. If I remember right the passenger side tip was off center just a little bit. It was pretty hard to notice unless you were looking at it dead on. Driver side tip was dead center.

I think I read somewhere that they fixed the centering problem, but I could be wrong. For the cost of the piece, the quality and how it sounded, I had no issues with one tip being a little bit off. If it bothers you that much, I'm sure a local muffler shop would be more than happy to center it for you.

Local exhaust shop should be able to sort you out with some nice tips for the stock exhaust way cheaper than perrin tips
