Roof rack for track wheels/tires?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to transport some wheels/tires for the track and would love to throw them up on the roof instead of stuffing them in the car and taking up all the room. Has anyone done this with a roof rack yet? I'm assuming a custom (unique) system will be needed to be placed on the cross bars that probably isn't readily available, but I think it'd be much nicer to do that rather than stuff them in the car or pull a tire trailer. I've seen people with canoe's and bikes and such on their roof racks, but haven't seen tires yet... Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. :burnrubber: -Bret |
Would highly advise you not to, as the only way to secure it is to use a metal basket.
Keep in mind that most roof racks are rated for 150-175lbs max load, which does not include the actual accessory. Most wheel/tires will weigh north of the load rating even without the basket. -alex |
^^ +1 well said. ^^

No, too heavy.
You'll spend about the same with getting a small trailer. Also, dude you'll throw out your back that way. If your worried about scuffing stuff, get the tire rack wheel bags and lay down some mats on the back. |
