Remote starter or cover for winter?

I live in SW Ontario and it can get pretty cold here with lots of snow. My brz will be winter driven and live on our driveway. Should I get a cover to protect her from the worst of the weather, or as a friend suggested, get a remote starter to warm her up for a while before I climb in?

If you think a remote starter is the best bet, can you recommend one? I don't want anything but a starter, don't need the remote lock/unlock etc. I'd love one that works with my iPhone, just because ;-) But I'm unsure after looking around online what would do the trick for me.

I am leaning toward a cover because yesterday it was just -4° and the driver window stuck. When it's -35° I'm still going to need to get to work!

if you want a remote starter, BestBuy is going to have a deal on it soon (the poster claims on 11/28) that includes installation:

How would you start it up if it was a manual?

there's a bypass module that you need to install for the BRZ (included in the link I linked above) since our car key has a chip in it. the kit I linked works for a manual car, but I do not know the specifics since I don't have it installed. however, my brother's STI has a remote start from Viper, along with an aftermarket alarm(and manual) and he needs to arm it via the key fob before shutting off the car in order for the remote start to work. if he doesn't manually arm the remote start prior to ignition cutoff, it won't work due to a safety switch or something similar to that.

another one from sarnia...nice!

and yes you can put starters on manuals, more of a pain
basically you have to "arm" them first
I would recommend avital (because I used to install them, and there the same manufacture of viper)
there is also a model that will work with your iphone
you can do a cover, but its just going to harm the paint, not to mention a pain in the ass every morning taking it off and on again

+1 to what bluesky said. I would 100% get a starter I have been using mine for 3 years now

No cover like he stated it will harm your paint.

Yep! You too?http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11...4624e4bd1d.jpg

The iPhone ones I've seen require a monthly fee
:-( I'll keep looking.

So even the covers with fleece lining:

And yes they have a monthly fee, pretty neat feature though

I don't think so much the fleece lining, but the fact you'll be putting a car cover on a dirty car....we just had this discussion a few days ago too

Its hard to say man I think people were 50/50 on the subject
I have used a few covers and I just bought the proper BRZ cover, but I find it really tight
