The black "soot" is just unburnt fuel collecting in your exhaust pipes. Definately normal. Would rather have my car running rich rather than lean. Best thing you could do is tune your AFR and get a gauge to monitor your AFR.

Normal....look at mine (I deleted the first cat when I did the UEL header). Also notice how the passenger tip is more dirty than the driver.

Now I cant wait to go home and check to see if I have a dirty TRD exhaust too. Only issue I saw was when real cold lots of water coming out of exhaust. Damn cat. 3 O2 + 2 CH2 ---> 2 CO2 + 2 H20

What are you guys using to clean the caked on stuff?

Hit the tail pipes with pressurized stream of water then watch it fly away... lol |

metal polish and elbow grease. |
Totally normal, I get the same thing on my Volkswagen all the time :D
|
My tips are clean...guess I'm not driving my car hard enough.:(

I just cant get over the fact that someone would clean the tailpipe. I admit that I live in the opposite quadrant of the universe when it comes to washing a car, but seriously, cleaning the tailpipe?
I have a life. |
