No, the stock ECU already does that with a mind of it's own if you watch it enough.

Yup, all stock. Just put in a clutch this weekend as 12psi on E40 destroyed it in one pull.

Your motor is unfortunately living on borrowed time pushing stock internals to such limits.

Of all the things in this thread, this creeps me out.

That car is going to blow up any minute now. Calling it.

beat1 04-23-2016 11:52 PM

The car actually has 12.2k miles on it now.

this is awesome. for those who think engine is going to crap, you really need to understand it's all in the tune. yea it may be pushing it's limites, but VitViper has a large background in tuning 8th gen civics, probably one of the best tuners around period.

FRS Justin 04-24-2016 03:18 PM

Well I could tune a stock motor with a big turbo to 500 hp for one dyno pull and then drive it 12000 miles too if I never got on it. Take the car to the track everyday for a month and let me know how its doing.. Even Vit know he's on borrowed time he stated it going into this. While the tune does have something to do with a motor living for awhile, it will not take the place of a built bottom end.
Their is absolutely no way to apply 500hp on the street efficiently in one of these cars no way. Do I think VitViper is a excellent tuner yes. I seen his work on the Honda scene and even looked at his software which is very nice. Do I think he drives his car pushing it up to 500hp on the street everyday, no not even a chance of buying into that. Their are other tuners that have hit 500hp on stock motors, some of them went over a year like that. But in the end they all have gave up the ghost at some point.
So in closing I'm not flaming Vit but pushing a FA20 500hp and saying a tune is the only reason it still is alive is debatable....
EDIT: I am not claiming Vit is stating his tune is the reason....

One dyno pull? The motor has survived 300+ dyno pulls, a probably a third of which have been with the turbo setup, since we purchased the car with ~13 miles on it.

It has also been through something like 30-40 hard pulls on the street just for the fuel return system testing a couple months ago.

That doesn't even begin to count the normal daily driving "sprited" driving, haha.

But it sure is amusing to hear someone else talk about what I do or do not do with my own car :bellyroll::bellyroll::bellyroll:

I've seen people wreck completely stock cars, and even built bottom ends, while at the track. So ....... what?

In other news... not everyone builds or wants to build a track car. And the ones that do... don't track them every day? Or are you saying only the unemployed build track cars?

There isn't? That's probably the dumbest thing I've ready today. We have 900-1000hp 4 cylinder cars that lay it down on the street with no problem. 500hp is a joke when it comes to laying it down on the street, especially on a RWD car :bellyroll::bellyroll::bellyroll:

You can ask @Ultramaroon how it "lays it down" on the street. Plenty of joy rides have been given in this car, Rofl.

It's a flex fuel car, it's spent the last 4 months on E80 fuel in the tank. The car sees 7800 rpm and 15-16lbs regularly. That's why we turbod it... maybe YOU would turbo yours and then baby it because you're scared.

Dumb question are you using the OFT or ECUTEK? And do you tune for this car or is this just a pet project :)

lol

Please post a link of a 86 putting 500hp down on the street I'm sure this whole forum would love to see this unicorn...... Remember the key word efficiently I could care less about a smokie burn out video show me that 10 second pass on the street......

500hp at 15 to 16 pounds may I see a dyno graph on such a accomplishment that's impressive.

You know I'm not going to get in a huge debate with you, I could care less, only 2 facts remain
1 you keep pushing 500hp on a stock motor and you will be paying the piper at some point.
2 I told you last time I would gladly come to your track line up next to your monster FRS with no traction control only on a boost controller and show you tail lights. I'm even willing to put 1000 up to win and another 1000 saying at no point will you ever be in front of me.
I'm sure this is where I will start hearing the crickets sing just like last time....
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/images/smilies/word.gif

I will be in Cali in June would love to have you come down to the track there....

pgranberg11 04-24-2016 08:03 PM

i'm going to vote for vit if this actually happens... ^

i really think before you go stating what you are saying REALLY educate yourself on his background... just saying.... I don't know vit personally, but he has tuned a friend of mine's civic so I know his work. But even one tune doesn't speak for ALL of his work he's done.
