The target market for this car is not the average person on this forum but a crowd that the $30K price tag is chump change to. I get they are trying to bring different demographics into the mix but also have a nagging fear that this is the direction they will take the next gen in. Can you say Genesis coupe? |

You're right about the change in demographic. It's just how odd they value their cars and how they try to get an audience. I was trying to compare their rs1 to the new rs2. The amount of stuff added is lackluster. The only thing that looks good is is the wheels from the rs2. Did they have any issue selling the rs1? With only 1000 made I guess it wouldn't really affect their sales. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that they wanted to make it a bit more classy but their original demographic with the frs is younger audience and car enthusiasts. So why not make changes that their audience want. There are still people out there waiting for the right moment for a frs. Making another frs with an agressive bodykit will surely get them to buy it. |

As far as the looks and " The only thing that looks good is is the wheels" goes that is totally subjective and each individual opinion means nothing in the overall picture. Just because you or others (not a fan myself but could change if saw in real life) don't like it doesn't mean it is ugly or not going to sell. Hell, this forum was filled with people screaming when the RS1 came out and words like "Banana", "factory rice", "horrible" and "why?" were flying everywhere. Many people thought it would never sell and ridiculed the people that wanted them. I think the same scenario will play out with this one. Special editions are not for everybody and that is exactly why they are limited and special instead of the stock production version. |

Seriously though, if Toyota moves the next-gen FR-S in that direction, there is no chance I will buy it. Zero. Toyota needs to figure out why people love these cars and build on those strengths. I don't know anyone who bought an FR-S because they liked how refined, isolated or substantial it felt. Would be a huge mistake to push the next-gen in that direction. |

Eventually the people that had the passion and designed the car the way it is will lose control of the project and the bean counters will have their way with a new team doing the work on the "improvements". That is the way of the automotive world. |
