Security light flashing?

I have a 2014 FR-S, and just recently I noticed that when the car is parked and the doors are locked, the little red security light flashes on and off (the icon contains a lock symbol). I'm outside the car and have the keys with me.

However, it's never done this previously.

What happened?

Maybe you just have never noticed it before ....... ??

So does yours flash on and off?

Tcoat 11-11-2015 03:51 PM

It always does that so like Hum said you must just not have noticed before. It just means that the engine disabler is on. It does however also do a good imitation of an armed car alarm even though there isn't one.
Sort of like a Beware of Dog sign when you have no dog.

All explained in the owners manual.

I think its the engine immobilizer. It comes on as soon as you take out your keys even if you're still in the car.

It has a car with a lock logo.

It's really just your car trying to get your attention to get back in and drive. :burnrubber:

Yep, sure does ..... :)

However, back in the day, I got mrs humfrz a new, fancy car and we took it on an overnight trip. I was "clearing my head" @WhiteFRS69, at night, out in the parking lot and noticed a little red light flashing on the dash of our car.

Of course, I had left the drivers manual at home, because I already knew EVERYTHING about cars. After a couple more long pulls from my whisky bottle ..... I just didn't care anymore about why the light was blinking ...... and fell asleep (passed out).

:bonk:

On my BRZ, it was delivered from the dealer with the alarm system disabled.

After I enabled it, I THEN noticed that the dash light was blinking after I got out and locked the doors.

Maybe it is an alarm system indicator?

There is no "maybe" here Stu.

Page 59 of the manual:

Engine Immobiliser System
"The indicator light flashes after the key has been removed from the engine switch to indicate the system is in operation."

This is 10 seconds worth of work to open the manual and read.

:sign0012:

Game, set, match.
Nothing to see here everybody move along.

I have NEVER removed my "Key" from the engine switch.

What is this Key thing you speak of?
So MAYBE that sentence from the manual is n/a for my car?
