So apparently MT is saying they have official reports that the coupes body will be a skeleton with a engine in it. If this is true then Subaru/Toyota is slow as hell at making sports cars.

It makes sense. I really hope the FT-86 (v2) is at the very least shown there.

SUB-FT86 02-23-2011 12:30 PM

I guess so. That explains why we keep seeing the ugly rendering. They haven't came up with a body yet.

FT-86GOD 02-23-2011 12:59 PM

LOL..

Maybe they have their sketch already(maybe the actual concept), but they want to toy with us.

VenomRush 02-23-2011 01:36 PM

never heard of a skeleton as an actual concept

NESW20 02-23-2011 01:50 PM

i doubt it. i think it'll be a full concept, but we shall see.

Dude, the car has only been in development for three or so years, most cars normally take 5 or more.

i don't give a crap....I want a Toyota, not a Subaru...

Even it's a Scion? :bellyroll::bellyroll: I joke I joke.

zigzagz94 02-23-2011 02:09 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if this is true.

FT-86II concept from toyota at geneva with this drivetrain mule from subaru.

I've said it before, Subaru has a long history of debuting big things at the New York auto show.

Wouldn't be shocked to see the whole concept at NY with production models of both at the Tokyo show in the fall.

Is that how long we've known about it or how long it's actually been in development?

What would be funny to me is if that's how long it takes and the car ends up being average at best. It better be impressive if it's going to take this long and I have a strong feeling the longer this car takes to make the higher the price tag will be like the Lexus LF-A.

Matador 02-23-2011 02:51 PM

Wow, you guys have no clue at all about car development cycles do you? Thank God for the internet.
