Vit's Car Gone Turbo w/ PRL Kit

In collaboration with PRL Motorsports I got the shop FR-S finally boosted after a busy year of trying different bolt on parts, tuning the car on ECUTek and then further tuning it on MoTeC as well as building a custom MoTeC M150 Flex Fuel package for the car.

I prefer the compact Turbosmart components over the Tial/Precision parts the kit normally comes with, so I did customize the kit a bit (as anyone can on their own if they chose -- PRL's "plug and play" kit works great as well for anyone wanting to just grab it off the shelf and install it). I also chose to run my Comp CT4x-5862 .82 a/r turbocharger that I had freshly rebuilt after removing it from the shop S2000 (on which car it had made ~650, so not a "small" turbo by any means).

Jay was kind enough to snap some pics during the install as well! Everything fit quite well and I didn't need to trim anything on the car.

Tuned by yours truly of course. ;)

The results? On our dyno a stock FT86 makes 148-152whp (tested and tried true with multiple cars).

On wastegate pressure -- 4psi (3.8 to be exact).

Bumping the boost a bit -- 7psi

Now on to 10psi

And finally 12psi with a very light map.

This is where I chose to stop on our 92 octane pump fuel (10.8% E content based on the sensor). The way things were looking I had room to push to 340-350whp with 2 more lbs and a bit more aggressive tuning -- but the car still has a stock clutch so I called it quits for now!

Tons of room in the fuel system as I am running a set of 900cc port injectors from Deatschwerks and a 300c fuel pump in tank now.

I really like using push-to-connect hose & fittings for all the boost/vacuum lines.

I am sure this will be an awesome set up!

Upgraded clutch is in, time for more power!
