Exhaust Work?
 

I'm looking to expand upon the Invidia catback I have on my FRS by adding an Invida Front Pipe, Tomei Overpipe, Tomei UEL Headers, and using Heatwrap to keep the oil pan safe. However I don't know where I'd get all of this work done properly. Any suggestions for those of us who don't live within two hours of a tuner shop? I'm in the Columbus area.

Those are all easy to do yourself if you don't mind doing manual labor.

If I had access to a lift and the proper tools? No. Wouldn't mind doing it. I'm sure I could do it, but I don't have either so I'm kinda stuck.

A low-profile floor jack and four jack stands, and Bob's your uncle. A creeper is icing on the cake. Compared to a real lift, of course, all other options completely suck.

Now is it safe to assume that this would be a "bonded" or "applied" coating to the metal?

Would a basic muffler shop know how to do this stuff? Or even my Dealer if I brought them the parts?

I'd take the parts to be coated to a specific shop meant for that. As for doing the installation yourself, just rent the tools/ equipment, or purchase it as you may need it later. Especially if you get the mod bug like I did.

What tools do I need? Like specifics besides the jack?

Wrenches and screwdrivers and shit.

They're doing my header. $375 for a header and overpipe, inside and out.

10mm, 14mm, 12mm, and uh... I believe those are the main sizes to take off the exhaust, and under panel if you're going after the headers. Wrenches or sockets work, but that depends on which piece you're changing.

I'd suggest you check in with your local sub-forum for a referral.

Any good muffler/auto shop should be able to make the install.

Since you asked what tools you would need ...... I'd recommend you have a shop do the work.

Notten wrong with that, just drop off the car, go across the street for a breakfast sandwich, come back and have a cup of coffee and read a car magazine or the paper, pay and drive off.

OR, you can buy/borrow a jack, jack stands and some tools. Slide under there, on the cold concrete floor, twist off a couple of bolts, skin up your knuckles, bang up your elbows, worry about under/over tightening the bolts ...... then wonder why in the hell you didn't just have it done.

I've done it both ways ...... and found plan A to be more fun ..... :thumbup:
