Weird white box under steering wheel above pedals.

Hi Everyone. I purchased my Ultramarine 2013 Scion FR-S at the end of September and noticed a white box like instrument. It is above my pedals and under my steering wheel. If someone could do me the kind favor and explain the functionality of this piece of plastic. Im thinking it might be some anti-theft apparatus. I want to remove it, ugly to my eye.

I have attached a few pics

Cheers!

whatever it is, its plugged into your obd II port

unplug it and see what markings are on it, you can always plug it back in

could be an insurance thing that someone forgot to take off, gps or wifi/bluetooth adapter to see engine stats on your phone

turbo mode...remove from odb2 port and start boosting.

Appears to be the blinker fluid....just kidding. That's really odd. But I'm going to agree with @humfrz and its a cia tracking device.

Thanks for the responses. I will probably end up removing it so I can't be tracked

Probably a Bluetooth OBDII adapter that the previous owner left behind.

@LeftLaner like others have mentioned, likely an OBDII wifi / bluetooth dongle left on by previous driver. It's harmless to remove. However, if you do remove it, don't just yank - get under there, you'll notice a base (very flimsy) for the port - hold this and slowly wiggle the adapter off. The connection isn't really made for constant plugging and unplugging.

Where did you buy your car from? It's not unheard of for dealerships to put GPS devices on cars to make them easier to Repo, should payments not arrive as promised. Questionably legal, sure, but it still happens.

They will notice if it goes silent for a prolonged time, so put it in someone else's car. Preferably someone who always drive under the speed limit and never goes further than the mall.

Maybe a cover to prevent dust? ... I know it looks big... But... Maybe....? :)
