2016 FR-S Review on GizMag
Nothing new or exciting but seemed like a pretty balanced read:
http://www.gizmag.com/2016-scion-fr-s-review/40269/ "For the everyday driver, or those who do not plan on modifying the FR-S out of warranty, this little coupe is still a great ride as-is. It’s thoroughly enjoyable to drive so long as you don’t fall into the trap of pretending that HP ratings and 0-60 times are all that matter in a sports car. That Camaro might outrun you on the straightaway, but once the curves come, this little Scion will dance around that Chevy like it’s stopped for a potty break. Add in the 30 mpg (8 l/100km) highway rating that the manual transmission in a stock FR-S achieves, and the appeal only gets stronger. " |

It’s thoroughly enjoyable to drive so long as you don’t fall into the trap of pretending that HP ratings and 0-60 times are all that matter in a sports car. That Camaro/mustang/jetta/mini cooper/golf/prius/mini van/reasonably fast kid on a bicycle/ will outrun you on the straightaway, but once the curves come, this little Scion will dance around them like they're stopped for a potty break. Add in the measly 30 mpg (8 l/100km) highway rating that the manual transmission in a stock FR-S achieves, and the appeal is mildly bland. " |
Sounds like a passive aggressive review to me.

I love the FR-S but I would not advise betting my pink slip on this unless those curves are as tight as an autox course, especially if that Camaro happens to also be a 2016. Those that think a Camaro cannot turn are truly living in the past. |
I'd be interested to see the new Camaro Turbo which is on the ATS platform go against an FRS/BRZ in the curves. Might be closer than they think

http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...14-camaro.html The ATS can handle well even without MRC. There's a reason it is so highly regarded. GM (and Ford) have come a long way from the "point straight and mash the gas pedal". That said, an FR-S will still have the advantage in handling vs the base model Camaro. But with 140 more lbs/ft of torque in the turbo Camaro, I think it would at least be a fun race to watch. |

Those cars were not nearly as ponderous as the 5th gen car. |
