Looking for Header Info

Hello,
I have searched (basic) and haven't found what I was looking for so I wanted to see if anyone could help me out.

I am looking at a few (cheap) headers.

CNT (Prefer the nicer collectors)
Gruppe
1320
OFH

I wanted to find a header that is 2.5". The Gruppe is 2 3/8" (60mm).

I have looked at these forums and online but haven't been able to find sizes for these headers. Does anyone know of 2.5" headers, or am I dumb and size doesn't really matter considering the design of headers? It is just the exit port that would be 2.5" correct?
I ask because I have 2.5" exhaust after the header to the tips. I'd like to keep it consistent, but the Gruppe headers are so nice and only off by 1/8".
1320 has a 5 week wait list maybe. I emailed them to see if there is still a wait list, but have not received a response yet.

Or can anyone recommend a nice quality header with well done collectors for $700 or less?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if the info is out there and I am just a bad searcher. I did search though and emailed the sources.

In that price range, I'd do JDL or Gruppe-S. I personally own the Gruppe-S, and people have been squeezing out real solid numbers with them on custom tunes. The Tomei's nice, too, but the Gruppe-S significantly undercuts it on price and is pretty much the same in quality.

I'll look at it. Do you know if it is 2.5"?

I depends on if they measured inside diameter or outside diameter.
2.5" is 63.5mm OD
2mm thickness piping would make it 59.5mm aka 2 3/8" inch ID
So essentially it is pretty much the same thing, it depends on how they measured it and if they used a caliper or a ruler(which is less accurate).

I have a ofh and I am happy with it. I also have the oft and know their tunes were tuned with the ofh, so that is the main reason I went with it.
I would suggest you look at sound clips and dyno sheets(especially at the torque dip).

JDL was one of the best before the ace header came out. That one is good.

One thing to keep in mind is you really need a tune to take advantage of the header. I'd consider that when making your budget.

So if you only have 700 total to play with, you may be better off going with something like openflah header and tablet combo, or gruppe s header and overpipe combo with either openflash tablet or ecutech tune.

Best budget header that's actually good quality is probably gruppe s. Best budget header and tuning combo is ofh & oft combo. Best header for $700 is jdl uel.

Sorry. Should of mentioned I have the oft. I can't wait to tune it after installing a header!

In that case, can't go wrong with JDL uel. $700 is good price for that header. Only downside is they usually don't have extras ready to ship, so there's a month or so lead time after you order it before shipping.

Anyone have a link to the jdl under $700? Only place I found so far is jdl themselves. If it's a 5 week wait I won't have the patience and I'd grab a different header. I emailed jdl to see if they have any in stock and awaiting a response. Gruppe said they can ship same day if payment is received by noon.

You should look for headers whose manufacturers release VVT tables. These will be the easiest to integrate with OFT tunes, without adding on another $500+ for a custom tune.

You really want to look at the exit collector size. The rest of the pipes have been designed to have the optimum flow so bigger is not always better.

Loosing power just so you keep it consistent is not the right way to go about fitting a header. Even though "2.5" all the way through bro'" sounds good when you say it, the header needs to be efficient first! You want the gasses to exit faster out of the detonation chamber, so slightly smaller will mean higher gas velocity. So is not that bad!

Thank you everyone for the responses.

Thanks Hawk! I may just go with the Gruppe because I don't want to wait for JDL to craft a header for me. I want my toys asap!

Or I may go with the 1320 if they respond to my email.

Thanks again!
