No way number one, can only be the Supra!

I figured rumors of Mazda producing a next-gen RX-7 were probably too good to be true.

Sports cars aren't volume sellers and Mazda just sunk a lot of money into the Miata update. As small a company as it is, Mazda probably doesn't have much left in the tank to risk investing in updating the RX-7. Not to mention rotary engines with all their limitations don't make much sense in the current automotive climate.

Still, it was fun dreaming about it. Probably would have been the logical successor to my FR-S (lightweight, minimalist sports coupe).

Sorry guys, I'd rather have a Miata coupe than a new RX anyways. I'm curious about the 6 coupe too, though a coupe designed off a FWD sedan will usually be FWD itself, so I'm not as gung-ho about it as I am a coupe Miata.

To say the truth I don't care about RX-7. MX-5 Coupé or MX-6 Coupé is all that is needed.

I doesn't surprise me they said "no" to another Rotary because Mazda's been saying/doing lots of smart things lately and saying no to Rotary is definitely a smart thing.

Hmmm, that has not been my experience. I have owned five Mazdas. I bought a 626 and a MX-6 new. I had two used MPVs(4wd vans) and a Protege used. The only problem I had with any of them was when one of the MPVs lost its tranny and Mazda replaced it free of charge even though I bought it used and it had 70K miles on it. After that, it was bulletproof as were all the others.

Maybe tinny is a better description. Compare a mid size Toyota for example to a mid sized Mazda.

Ha yeah I can say that I've never once cared or even thought about the next Supra, if one does come out. I didn't even like the last ones that much. yeah yeah 800hp.. 1000hp.. whatever. To me, Toyota stopped making sports cars after 95. The 86 only fixed that by maybe a quarter....

I really hate agreeing with you here.

But from a business perspective, you are 100% spot on.

There's 3 Toyota's built in my lifetime I would actually pay money for:
Pickup, MR2, FR-S

Edit: Love the MK2 Supra though.
