New BRZ: Opti Coat OR 22plw vx1 glass coat???

My '16 Silver BRZ should be arriving at the dealership within the next 2 weeks or so. I would like to protect the paint before winter sets in. Should I Opti Coat it or apply 22plw vx1 glass coat? Also, is it best to have a detailer do it or DIY? Any detailer recommendations for the Allentown/Pottstown/Quakertown PA area?

Thanks!

Mine is Opti Coated. Took it straight from the dealer to the shop.
Came out great.

I like 22ple myself, but you can't go wrong with either.

I would take it to a pro, to do it right there is a lot of prep required, usually involving polishing.

Received a quote from a highly rated detailer in my area to Opti Coat my new 16 BRZ. He recommended Opti-Coat Pro Plus with a warranty of 5 years. Pricing around for the moment, however...

Glass would be an extra $60 if you'd like the windows done, so $650 for the Opti-Coat Pro Plus and +$60 if you'd like the glass as well."
Does that sound like a fair/reasonable quote?

I paid $400.00 for Opti Coat Pro a year ago. My car was 3 weeks old before it got Opti Coat Pro. Not much paint correction was needed since car was new. Owner of the detail shop also did rims, trim, windows/glass, headlights and tail lights. Also got Opti Seal on top of the Opti Coat Pro. It provides more slick and gloss.

Make sure the detail shop is a authorized installer of Opti Coat Pro Plus. Check the Optimum website for authorized installers in your area. Get a few quotes from different shops before you decide which detail shop.

That sounds like a reasonable quote to me. I paid $500 for my car two years ago, but I don't think the glass was included. My detailer also cut me about $100 less at the time than what he would normally charge for my car since I got ripped off for a wash and wax that induced fine scratches into my clear coat (first new car learning woes).

So yeah - IMO that honestly sounds like a very fair price to me, especially if it is for the new Pro Plus line that should be significantly more expensive than the regular opti-coat. I would take the $60 for the glass too as that also seems like a good price. For example, I paid $70 to have my Buddy Club tail lights coated when I got them, so if you care about your car, you'll usually end up saving money (and regret down the road when and if your car incurs minor damage to it) to have them do it all at once.

People tend to balk at the price of opti-coat even though IMO anything $750 or less for the whole car (remember this includes fully polishing and removing any surface scratches and blemishes (which there are) before sealing it) is a good deal for what you're getting.
