Replaced liquids with motul 300.... Car stalls...

Hey guys looking to see if anyone might have some advice while I run the CEL codes.

Swapped over both tranny and diff fluids to motul 300. A day or two later the idle started sounding a little weird. Like a Diesel engine or if something was loose (slight knocking but only at idle)

Last night I drove the car and at a red light it bugged rough idle and boom shut off... any ideas?

Any intake mods?

Dirty/BAD MAF can do that

TRAKRAVN 11-02-2015 12:45 PM

Sounds like your motor has no oil.

There is no way transmission or differential fluids would have any affect on your car's idle, but an intake modification or dirty MAF sensor as previously mentioned might. What are the CEL codes?

If that's the only thing you've changed for sure, double check and make sure your trans and diff aren't leaking. The fluid change itself is highly unlikely to cause that, unless the fluid leaked out and is causing significant friction. What codes came up?

unless you changed your engine oil with motul gear oil.....there should be no connection between those two things...

+1

We've installed Motul fluid here quite frequently into the differential/transmission and never had any issues whatsoever. The issue here likely is what everyone else is saying, it sounds more motor related than transmission.

Let me give it a shot. OP did buy GEAR 300 Motul oil but accidentally put his prune juice in the car and drank the Motul, so his engine died and OP has not responded because well he drank Motul Gear 300 and.... well.... he isn't a diff or a tranny... or wait... maybe he is a tranny who knows these days.

Mr.ac 11-02-2015 10:26 PM

My guess he filled the tranny and diff by way of the engine oil fill.

You nailed it, best prune juice I ever drank

Well the results are in..... The doctor wrote "P000A" ~ A camshaft position slow response bank 1 ......

I don't have any intake mods other than a drop in filter, no engine mods other than the fluid change, which was done at the dealership and I have no leaks.

So is it a total loss or can it be buffed out??

Sounds like an issue from the unofficial CEL/SL/Idle thread that many people have been having. I threw a P000B code a few months back, same issue but different bank.

Dealership ended up replacing OCV for free and it fixed my problem. Contact your dealership for repair if you are still within warranty
